Sure they value it, but do you really think they wouldn't jump at the chance to "sell out" or whatever if they could become as succesful as Maroon 5? They may say that to attract more fans, but the reality they just don't have the right image and they just don't do pop that well.

There are several bands who don't sell out though. I'm not going to pretend there isn't several that do, and are willing right now because that would be a lie I can name several bands who have sold out or softened up their sound for the radio. But its unfair to assume every indie band is the same way.

I really think that there are thousands of artists that wouldn't jump at a major label if given the chance. I don't think you understand the world of cdr presses, 5 dollar shows, and just good old general free stuff. I don't think you understand how much fun it is to apart of a local scene.
