Uh okay..let me simplify it.

1. Hes involved in an indie community
2. Bands do dream of getting famous
3. Pllenty of bands like what they are because they can do what they want.
4. Pop and indie are very very different worlds.
5. Its unfair to stereotype indie bands because they aren't well known.
6. Most styles of pop are only there because of bands that took a chance and didn't follow the current trend.

Get it?

Your 'points' are ignorant stereotyping, there's really nothing in it worth addressing specifically.

Somethings are just universal...It's human nature really. You say these artists do it because they enjoy, which is true for the most part, but it's also true that the vast majority of them wouldn't turn down a multi-million EMI contract.

That wasn't the point you were originally making. The point you were originally making was all indie bands wish they made sellable music and that most just weren't good enough to do that so they stuck to playing indie.

No, actually this was:
Quote:
Indie is absolutely a genre. It's a kind of music you listen to that has not been presented to you via one of the majors. Unless you're saying genres can only be created by the majors.

Every genre has sub genres - but so long as the kids 'get' what the word 'indie' actually means, that should eliminate any snobbery that sadly accompanies the word.
I refuted that.

Not even two pages ago you agreed (what I posted) was the point you made.

So basically what you're saying is indie music can be summed up in two categories.

1. Bands that want to be a pop band
2. Bands that aren't talented enough to be a pop band
(same thing I stated in my post before this)

Also, if you're going to state your 'original' point actually you know, post YOUR point don't just say you refuted it. All you did was post "So is 'major' a genre to?"

No, it segwayed into a conversation about whether or not Indie bands would like to be mainstream. Related, but different.
