They're original because they're a funk pop band, with strong jazz influences that gets their sound from a piano.

How did their jazz influences go from a bit to strong?

Typo. My point stands.

Right....

Well Please explain, how Maroon 5 is original doing it now, when the band Urban listed (Jamiroquai) has been doing it since the late 80s and it wasn't original then?

ProggyMan 10-04-2007 05:38 PM

Because drums are their featured instrument. They are less melodic.

Okay then, I restate. "They are original. Yep and the only reason they're original is because of a piano. I think that says alot about their musical creativity."

What's wrong with a piano making you distancing you from your musical peers?

Nothing, but I fail to see how a common instrumental like the piano can make you original.

ProggyMan 10-04-2007 05:44 PM

Because it completaly changes your sound.

You couldn't move in the 80s for funk / Jazz influenced pop.

Curiosity killed the cat , fine young cannibles ,Londonbeat , Blow Monkeys , Style Council , Jamiroquai ... and those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head without even being a fan of them.
