The ONLY Bright Eyes Thread (quote, bands, emo)

When THe President Talks To God has to be the single finest protest song ever created. Not only are the lyrics clever, its by far the most passionate he sings on anywhere in "Digital Ash", "Im Wide Awake" or anything prior. It deserves so much more than a B-Side release.

He is the most fantastic lyricist I have ever come across, and is truly inspiring BUT his-music-is-allmighty-shite. Almost all his tunes are boring and monotonous, bar a couple from Digital Ash, and Road to Joy, which of course isnt actually his. If he could couple his writings with some good tunes, he would be far and away the greatest artist of our generation.

Alas (Yay i finally got to use that word) he is another star set on self-destruction, as Glasto showed. A lot of his music tell of addiction, and I can just imagine a headline someday soon of him having topped himself...But lets live in hope eh?

i like bright eyes. yes some of the stuff is conceited, over-indulgent tripe but oberst in my opinion has the ability to write amazing lyrics and evoke a mood like no other. i concur with sweet jane- one day he'll produce something special despite the fact i think first day of my life and Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh are up there anyway.
