1. What dull amterial are you reffering too. Mid period Dylan is pretty lousy but intentionally so. According to him he was sick of putting out music and the fame but he was obligated to make recordings so he slapped stuff together and sent it away. Its like when the media followed him wherever he went he would do awkward things to throw them off. From everything I've ever read Dylan seems boarderline psychotic so I would belive the stories. But if you feel Dylan is over rated go out and by his first 3 albums. O just Freeweeling. Or hell just download a hard rains gonna fall or like a rollin stone. 2. Yes, It has become VERY VERY trendy to like bright eyes.

Avril Lavinge played acoustic before is she comparable to Dylan. Like I said before many bands do this. Dylan does it on a much better level that Oberst Dylan songs are filled with passion, not sorrow. Bright eyes isnt that good.

Bright Eyes is good, but not that good. I've been an Oberst fan for quite some time. Certain songs are OK, certain aren't too good, and some will make you want to cream your pants with their simple, yet amazing guitar lines and indie lyrics. Nonetheless, to compare him to Dylan may be an overstatement. Dylan hit a point in his career with material that will be hard for anyone to ever match, whether it be Oberst or not.
Bottom line: I am not dissing Bright Eyes. I like them a lot. But to compare Oberst to Dylan is not right. |
