Eh, I feel bad for posting in all these old threads, but I love Belle and Sebastian and have to see it in writing. I really like their new cd by the way.

A member of belle and sebastian was a judge at a battle of the bands i played in ages ago, i think.......not that it matters atall whatsoever to the history of mankind, obviously .....because we didnt win.

Found this on sale and I had to hear what they were doing lately. Plus it came with a live dvd. so far it's solid, with a couple real standouts. The band always had a well documented infatuation for Love but other than that it was difficult to make any solid comparisons even though you knew they sounded like an amalgam of a bunch of old bands (a cross between Donovan and The Smiths perhaps?). Now it has become clearer. You can hear Simon & Garfunkel ("White Collar Boy"), David Bowie ("Sukie in the Graveyard") and even Stevie Wonder believe it or not ("Song For Sunshine"). Some fans will be disappointed by the new directions the band is taking. It's unfortunate that when a band really polishes things up a bit and seems to accheive the sound they've been going for all along the fans often turn on them. I hope that won't happen here. It's not a brilliant album, maybe not even a great one. But it sure is an interesting one.

This band is fantastic, they are currently one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite. I have only heard their first two albums and their last two albums. I can never decide if Tigermilk or If You're Feeling Sinister is better. Dear Catastrophe Waitress is phenomenal but not as good as their first two. The Life Pursuit was good.

Summing all of this up = Stuart Murdoch is a genius.

Hey now, I bought that as well a few months ago, and mine came with no dvd.

But yeah, I bought that after hearing Urban talk about them, and it is really good, I like every song on that album.

Woah, I didn't know there was a thread on this band. They're like my favourites and I have seen them twice.

If I had to choose a favourite album though, I really couldn't. I listen to them all quite often and they're all great in their own way. At the moment I'm onto If You're Feeling Sinister. It's a really good album, even better live.

Piazza, New York Catcher is one of my favorite songs ever as of now.

I have a strong liking for White Collar Boy that I can't get rid of.
