Home-grown sounds (country, bands)

I was reading a thread about favourite bands the other day and as I was listing off some of mine, I realized that a lot of them are Canadian (like me).
The thing is, these bands are pretty well known in Canada but in other countries, like the States, they're almost cult bands.
So this got me thinking, if a lot of my favourite bands aren't known outside of my country, then other countries probably have their own set of bands that are good, but almost unheard of in other countries.
Does anyone else have invisible bands like Canada?
