I can see how they'd have a loyal fan base, but I honestly can't say I'd be part of said group...

I love them still, but I wish they kept the same producer from the first two albums. I heard they were suppose to release an 4th album last year in '08 and then it was to be in '09 but it's to be released in '10. For me it's been a long wait. Albert Hammond Jr. managed to record two solo albums since First Impressions... still I wish they record more then they do.

Same here. But does this band even still exist? It seems like forever since they've done anything, aside from average sounding solo work.

I think I still have a copy of Is This It somewhere lurking around the house... goes to show much I listen to it presently... however, it was good catchy simple pop / punk album with nice hooks and good concise simple sound, that did kinda catch on in the early 00's....

I picked up Is This It again, and oh man, it's just so good. It's like 60's rock in a modern format that can be enjoyed by anyone (age wise). Everything is pretty much fun and upbeat, and the sounds are just so CLEAN. The slight distortion for the singer's voice is a nice touch, and he has such an indie rock kid attitude somewhere inside of it. If you don't look at them as attempting to be an innovation, than you shouldn't have any difficulty enjoying Is This It. It's simple, catchy, clean, upbeat rock and roll revival (maybe) that sounds like a Pavement / (early) Stereolab / Lou Reed / Beatles hybrid.
