Terra Naomi is quite good. She won an award on YouTube. Saw her in London the other day. |

I'd have to say totally check out:
matt pond PA (their last album, Last Light is awesome) spoon (Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, with an album named so, do I have to say more?) cursive (happy hollow, but not a hollow sound by any means) john vanderslice (emerald city, wish i could live there) okkerville river (the stage names, don't we all use them?) |

Stereophonics: Dunno really, i can only think of bands they ripped off a bit like The Verve and Oasis so try them if you haven't already. |

to compare Modest Mouse to Built to Spill or Pixies is a bit unfair. they may be influenced by both, but have a very unique sound, nonetheless. furthermore, I would argue that MM are better songwriters and musicians than BTS or Pixies.
if you like MM, I'd recommend Foals. they sound like a dance-punk'd MM |

Um, if you listen to stuff like Debaser you can basically hear quite a bit of Isaac Brock's vocal style in a nutshell. I don't think its that farfetched to suggest someone who likes Modest Mouse would like both bands since the influences are pretty apparent.

i've drawn that comparison to a lot of people and they've said it's spot on.
