well, i totally agree with both of you!
but there were a few earlier posts that suggested indie was a "sound" or genre of music... so it's rather moot to argue it, isn't it? |
That answers my question. Thank you.

'Indie' is not a term to be taken literallly... it's just a catch all term to describe 'alternative' or 'non-top 40 pop' etc... |
Thus my comment re: interesting debate.... lol

you got indie in my peanut butter
Now that labels are specifically looking for bands to sign that can seem "indie" or sound "indie" and bring street cred to the label the term doesn't seem to have all that much importance . . . its just another term, useful I guess if you are trying to avoid the usualk pop bands. Or useful for tagging your Mp3s. There are so many genres now I've almost given up even trying to pigeonhole sounds. Now if you are looking just for truly independent and small label bands then that is a whole different deal
But, that said here's a few i like lately that are a little different earlimart (if you like grandady) laketrout leaving carmichael (sp?) antony and the johnsons the hold steady dirtbombs:clap::soapbox: |
At the Drive in is my favorite band, I suggest you listen to some Fugazi and Drive like Jehu, both were heavy influences on at the drive in.

Thanks a lot for replies!
Haven't checked any bands out yet, but I will and I hope I find something I like. |
you must do more of what people want and not yourself
