I've just bought the most amazing rock/dance crossover compliation called "Modular presents... Leave Them All Behind". The first CD is a 50-minute mix of some cracking tunes that are about at the moment. Some Bloc Party, Whitey, Killers etc. It's dance music, but not as we know it.

Question Some Songs

I've always had problems understanding what actually falls under the "Indie" category, the obvious being that the singer/group is signed under an independant label, but then I have often seen singers/groups signed under a major label appearing in the "Indie" category simply because they aren't so well known... Then there's "Alternative Rock"... and lots of other categories that also seem to fall under "Indie"...

Anyways, here's a few songs that I like that may fall into this group.

Metric - Raw Sugar, Combat Baby (This girl's voice is such a turn on )
The Beta Band - Dry The Rain
Elbow - An Imagined Affair
Church - Under The Milky Way Tonight
Anthony and The Johnsons - Hope There's Someone
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek
The Arcade Fire - Crown of Love
The Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You
The Vaselines - Jesus Dont Want Me For A Sunbeam

I dunno about turning me on, but yeah, Metric is a pretty catchy band. I wish Sweet Jane was still around. She was the only other person I can think of that liked Anthony and the Johnsons. I've come around and started listening to them lately as well.

Yea, I must admit that Anthony and The Johnsons took some getting used to, there's something eerie about his voice... to be honest the first time I heard "Hope there's someone" I thought it was someone like Fats Dominos! "derr"

Her and Leslie Feist always manage to get me in the mood. Maybe that's why Broken Social Scene are one of my favorite bands...
