OH!!!

(i should have known that...)

Modest Mouse is a weird one for me... i'm originally from seattle but never 'got into them'. I remember a girl I fancied liked a guy who was a huge fan so I immediately hated them... lol.

finally got into them in their last album - realiazed what i was missing and have since got all their albums and seen them 3 times. GREAT BAND!

Any band releasing music on an independent label. Indie itself isn't a genre, but there are genres like [General] Indie Rock, Indie Pop, etc.

Bands that work for independent labels?

Its not as much of a genre as it is a term for non mainstream bands, its basicly todays alternative rock, and like alternative rock bands in the 80s and 90s, most indie bands have little in common. Im very disapointed in todays independent scene, at least most american and canadian indie bands, its a lot better in europe though, post rock has taken a life of its own, and so far a lot of damn good bands have come out of it. Post rock in my opinion is basicly a style of modern progressive rock. The modern prog scene is the "true" indie rock scene if you ask me.

The best Post-Rock bands are from Canada. And the US has a lot of great indie bands, but I guess you wouldn't think that if all you like is Post-Rock.

was gonna argue but you are prolly right... plenty of other great ones tho is all I'll add... Expl in the sky, Mogwai, Sigur Rós etc.

Godspeed You Black Emperor! and all it's off-shoots is what gives Canada the edge I think...
