Just a name drop...

Hi. New here.

There's a band called Cap'n Jazz I think you guys should know about.
Their importance in the development of emo may have been as profitable if not more than that of The Cure.

If you don't know them I suggest checking them out as well as the counterpart bands that sprung from them. I you have heard of them please give me a rather affectionate hug.

Actually Cap'n Jazz was never emo, and they had relatively no effect on other emo bands. However, they did rock the chicago indie scene in the 90s. Currently most of the members are in the band Joan of Arc, and they will be releasing a new CD soon.

This may be true that they were indie, but that is not mutually exclusive in that it may also be emo and punk as well. Also, they were highly influential on today's emo scene, but since this is simply opinion you have the right to agree or disagree.

However...

This may help enlighten you if you'll take the time :) :

That's cool that you know that site. I visit it often. Just curious, but what do you consider today's emo scene?

Today I think emo can be anything that has emotion but general speaking emo consists of indie emo, emocore, punk emo, and pure emo (which is hard to find).

pure emo (if you wanna get technical) could be considered indie emo.

indie emo: Archers of loaf, Drive like Jehu, Texas is the Reason

pure emo: Rainer maria, Ethel meserve, the promise ring, finding westerly(somewhat punk), The blacktop cadence

hard to distinguish which is which.

I've found it easier just enjoy it as emo. :)

Those bands are great at what they do. Go to www.fourfa.com if you want to find out more about the emo genre.

Wow this is really helpful. I can never find a good emo site. It's always like..."how to be emo" or something like that.

Thanks man :)
