I haven't seen anybody on this forum try and pass Parkway Drive or any related band like them off as hardcore. I recognize that they are metalcore (not nu-metalcore, whatever that is- the two genres are pretty distinguishable).

maybe people haven't tried to pass metalcore bands off as hardcore... however, it's just that the term hardcore is thrown around loosly. copy paste: "This genre is becoming over saturated with garbage acts like Asking Alexandra, Norma Jean, The Devil Wears Prada, and the like who tend to lean more on the hardcore side of things."... how do those bands lean on the hardcore side of things? they are as close to hc as britanny spears..

thrash based metalcore combined elements of hardcore and that was the style that made the term metalcore come about. the melodic metalcore that borrows from melodeath does not truly mix elements of hc. kids think it does just cause there are breakdowns. nonesense. you don't here the chord structure and fast chord changes from hardcore. and the bands i was referring to the really scenie ones are about as hc as britanny spears.
you don't seem to know better. what hardcore bands are you into to know if todays metalcore mixes hc? name five hardcore bands you have been into a lot.. ???? |

TBH, it's kind of odd that there isn't one.
