Default Something I just don't understand

There have been countless threads trying to help everyone understand where the emo genre came from and what it is. Through the year, I've seen that despite some of our efforts to educate people on good emo music, noobs constantly post how amazing TBS/brand new/my chemical romance is. Every week there is a new poster that says the same thing over again. I wouldn't even mind if they posted something that sounded like TBS as long as it's a new band to check out.

I just get frustrated when we have one decent thread, but then we get a random post on a band everyone knows ex: "You should listen to brand new they have awesome lyrics" . Its not so much the bands they post; its more that they can't seem to see that whatever they said has been said countless times.

I`ve said it before & i`ll say it again,

Bands like My Chemical Romance , dashboard confessional & all that lot are the public perception of emo so thats what emo is. No amount of argueing or crying from emo purists will change that.

I hate the way 'indie' has come to mean chart friendly crap like the Killers , the Stereophonics & Coldplay rather than real independent bands on independant labels that are making original music, but there`s nothing I can do about that other than stop moaning about it & find new bands that appeal to me

Well seein as people have different views on good music, hows about we hear some of yours? Not meaning to sound bitchy here at all, Im just interested. I could do with hearing some new bands , and you always seem to be the one who'd know them.

I like a range of music...A large range, I listen to some stuff which david frost whould be proud of and others which he would gladly kill me because of...so yeah, the definition of a good band lays inside your head

I don't want this to sound like a spam post, but maybe you would like to check out our band, As I Fail. I don't know exactly what genre we fall into (we've been told we are punk / emocore / hardcore), but I don't want to say we are any one of them because I know my head will be removed from my neck . So if you would like to check us out, head to our website at www.asifail.com . Our EP is DIY and sounds pretty rough (so please don't tell me the quality sucks, I know it does already). And if you have any feedback of what genre we should classify ourselves as, let me know. And please, no flame posts...
