www.purevolume.com is a good place with thousands of lesser known bands giving out their music for free downloads... you'll find some real gems there.

soulseek's alright.. limewire's good for dowloading .. not the greatest but it's my current preference.

what if you cant get it in a record store?
online music is a great breakthrough for bands that are trying to be heard. websites like soulseek, hxcmp3.com, purevolume, and even myspace do nothing but help bands. besides it is mostly bands that benefit from online music that are listened to online. and the bands that do loose money normally have enough of it not to worry about it.
