what part of 'CALL THEMSELVES' pop do you have a problem understanding?

I`ll break it down so you understand.

Belle & Sebastian are a UK band. The U.K. has a history of making good pop, stretching right back to The Beatles , The Stones , The Kinks , The Small Faces going through T-Rex , The Jam , The Smiths, New Order, The Cure, The Stone Roses ect ect.
Calling them a pop band isn`t the insult you seem to think it is. They are carrying the tradition of many good British pop bands. I`ve seen so many people from North America try to lable these bands anything other than pop & I just find it funny there are people like you who will do anything to avoid the truth.

As for bands changing genres just because of the country it`s heard in , well thats just about the dumbest thing I ever heard.And cut down on the abuse it makes you look like a 10 year old.

Belle and Sebastian have called themselves pop. But I think this is being confused with pop in terms of popular music, such as Britney Spears and other such nonsense. They are not in that category, hell, half the people in the UK don't even know who Belle and Sebastian are. They're more like a lo-fi pop band for indie types.
