Tbh mate i don't think you have a clue what you're talking about, a few of those bands aren't even metalcore and don't sound a thing like Johnny Truant, in fact the only band on that list with a passing resemblance to Johnny Truant is Architects. You have also yet to provide me with a band you don't think are generic.

Firstly, i suggest you take the rose tinted goggles off, metalcore is a fusion that incorporates hardcore punk and heavy metal, all the bands listed are a reflection of this. I've seen half of these bands live and they all go by the same formulaic musical conventions (Heavily distorted riffs, dual leads, blast beats, double bass bursts, high pitched/low pitched intertwined squeals, beatdowns, mid-song interludes), im thinking you either havent heard much of these bands or nothing of them at all OR youre just being a band boy in denial. Theyre all scene for a reason, because they know by adhering to these formula's they'll gain the fans, its a ready made recipe for scene success... coupled, of course, with the fashion.

Secondly, in reference to metalcore, i'd be very hard pressed to find a unique band.

I'm sorry mate but with all due respect you're talking out your arse.

The Argent Dawn- Yep fairly generic deathcore
Postmortem Promises- See above
The Eyes of a Traitor- See above, although they are doing something slightly different
Seraph Impaled- haven't heard them
The Boy Will Drown- yep, generic
Last Witness- Hardcore band
Your Demise- Hardcore band
The Legacy- Hardore band
Dead Swans- Hardcore band and a very good one at that.
Down I Go- Never heard
Architects- Different to all the other bands on this list except for maybe Dead Swans who they share similarities with
Bury Tomorrow- yep, fairly generic
The End- Haven't heard any of the last three.
Blackstorm
Blindwitness

Also theirs certainly a difference between generic and unique and only a couple of the bands on this list sound similar to JT.

This is becoming a waste of my time. You havent even listened to half the bands i've listed, whilst half the bands you have heard you agree are generic anyway? And all you can say is im talking out of my arse.

The fact is the bands ive noted all utilize beatdowns, blast beats, distorted riffs, dual lead and interludes. Beatdowns, blast beats and interludes in particular are an effective live tool for getting the kids going. Gang vocals are another thing that the bands ive noted tend to rinse. Architects are perhaps THE archtypal metalcore band, theres nothing different about them whatsoever. Their music is text book generic metalcore.

As for the hardcore/metalcore differentiation you seem to be making with a couple of the bands ive listed, of course im not saying theyre exactly the same (though they are by nature very closely related), youre misunderstanding what im saying, which is that they share many generic, formulaic conventions which i have listed already. Your Demise for one regularly tour with the likes of BMTH, Architects etc for christ sake, line ups that are known for just being a beatdown fest.

And sorry but that ending sentence of yours is utter bullsh2t.

Im done with this.

The bands you listed you claimed sounded eaxtly like Johhny Truant and most of them don't. Simple as. The fact is metalcore is no more or less generic than most other genres out there.
