What is the defintion of screamo? Some bands in the early 90's such as Nation of Ulysses were tagged as screamo and i dont see what they have to do with some modern 'screamo' bands.

bardonodude 12-15-2008 08:39 AM

yea early screamo had a lot more punk influence, nation of ulysses seems pretty punk to me but at the same time they're different

Because this is the hardcore and emo section of the forums?

Its like going to the Jazz forum and saying "Why are so many people here into Miles Davis?????"

alliteration 12-19-2008 04:59 PM

No it isn't you complete and utter ****. Practically every thread on this forum is about Screamo rather than Hardcore Punk or Emo.

swim 12-26-2008 07:45 AM

Screamo is Hardcore/Emo.

Yes it falls under that umbrella, my point was their are more threads about screamo than there are about what i'd describe as straight up Hardcore punk and Emo. Its not that tricky to understand.

lucylamppost 12-26-2008 10:26 AM

screamo this a teenage faze

swim 12-26-2008 10:27 AM

lies

lucylamppost 12-26-2008 10:29 AM

no way man I finished that fad when I was 17........like how can you really relate to it unless your in highschool where everything seems life or death. THe only way you could like that music is of you could related to it. You can't like it for the music skills .

swim 12-26-2008 10:41 AM

We must be listening to different screamos.

copy I will listen to them and then come back

swim 12-26-2008 10:47 AM

If you don't know who they are then we were'nt talking about the thing.

Oh, and to answer the ultimate question. Screamo is the most active form of hardcore right now. That's why.

bardonodude 12-26-2008 10:06 PM

I agree with you swim, although there are a few hardcore bands that I can think of, like furnace.

Rather than asking why there are many screamo fans here on MB, a better question is why screamo has fans at all. :thumb:

I'm pretty sure one of my band mates thinks Alexisonfire is a screamo band. I've already given up on being a genre nazi though.

never give up

Rubber 12-30-2008 11:46 PM

Alright. I'm telling him off, then shoving Saetia down his NOFX loving throat.

bardonodude 12-31-2008 12:45 AM

haham, what band are you in rubber?

Trauma 12-31-2008 06:24 PM

Who the hell still listens to NOFX???
I don't even think they listen to themselves.

Also, I second bardonodude's question if the band is a screamo band.

Alfred 12-31-2008 06:28 PM

NOFX are so 1995.

Trauma 12-31-2008 06:29 PM

More like so never.

Rubber 12-31-2008 09:30 PM

I'll link my band once we've made something worth while haha.

chickendude 01-01-2009 02:15 PM

I like where bardondude's at. Who cares what you and your friends listen to, what music are you guys making? :)
