To me it could be quite similiar because Romantism was a revolution to the classical era where everything was based on reason and thought. Romantism and Emo focus on the emotion and not order. The one difference between them is that Romantics loved nature and the outdoors and I don't really see that in Emo music...

Feudal japan/china was the "romantic" period in those countries. Baisically in Japan, the Japanese "renasaince" and reformation of the land. New forms of dialect and writing, arts, and romantic warfare.
Just as you could consider the medieval Europe as a romantic period. An extremely emotional and romantic period. KNights devoted themselves to the code of chivalry and there lords and fiamiley. The whole thing was very heroic and "romantic" (if you dont think about the black plague, great schism etc etc) In my defense I am under the impression that the person intended this thread to be on the romantic areas of history as they wrote " XVII-XIX centuries, not the one of romantic novels" Directly specifying that there not refering to romantic literature at all. So what is it evil? Clrify this big mess for us all.
