Peter Helmis & Craig Woods Thread
Peter Helmis & Craig Woods are Peter & Craig and have been in countless other bands. I mean at least 10 and most of them are really kickass. They're best friends and gerw up together I think because Craig said it in a D'amore video I have on my comp haha. I'm putting all the bands that actually have music links at the top of the list.
Most of the bands they have been in are on this website a circle of friends making music and a circle of friends making music But anyways here is a semi-list with links to their stuff, I have most of it and you can find a lot of it on soulseek so here we go. Peter & Craig Profile undergoing maintenance After D'Amore broke up, Peter and Craig decided to make a 2 piece punk band. Ryerose MySpace.com - ryerose - PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - Emo / Indie / Punk - www.myspace.com/ryerose Consisted of Peter & Craig plus two Chris and Eric from A Petal Fallen and Pyramids. They broke up when Chris and Eric moved back to Seattle. Pretty much emo on the softer side but still kickass. D'amore MySpace.com - D’Amore - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Screamo / Hardcore / Punk - www.myspace.com/damoreband Probably one of my favorite bands. Chaotic/melodic hardcore, kind of like a more melodic Hassan I Sabbah I guess haha. Kind of hard to describe. I was talking to the drummer and he said they are doing a reunion show with Dawn Treader this winter! He also said they might be getting back together permanently but Peter needs a little convincing. Kick Rocks MySpace.com - kick rocks - PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - Pop Punk / Punk - www.myspace.com/kickrocksphilly This is a poppunk band that has both Peter & Craig and Ben from Joshua Fit for Battle and Welcome the Plague Year. Elder MySpace.com - Elder - Philadelphia, US - Ambient / Shoegaze / Screamo - www.myspace.com/elderphiladelphia Has Craig and some dudes from Rosetta. Pretty straightforward emotive/sludgy hardcore I guess. Towers MySpace.com - towers - PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - Punk - www.myspace.com/toweringsound Who hasn't heard of these dudes. They tour everywhere and have a ton of splits and 7"s and a kickass full length. Sludgy hardcore with early Isis influences. A pretty original band. Their sound is getting prettier now with Craig's guitar work finally showing a presence over the dirgy low chords of their earlier stuff. I can't wait for the new split. Halfway to Holland MySpace.com - Halfway To Holland - PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - Down-tempo - www.myspace.com/halfwaytoholland2k6 Only Peter was in this band and it was pretty much a pop-punk band with slight influences of early 90's emo. Pretty much was a precursor to Algernon Cadwallader. Algernon Cadwallader MySpace.com - Algernon Cadwallader - Yardley/West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - www.myspace.com/algernoncadwallader The most popular band of Peter's side projects. Of course everyone on here knows who they are so I'm not going to say anymore haha. La Clef Pretty much like D'amore. No links but soulseek them if youre interested. Fall On Deaf Years Pretty much proto-D'Amore as well. They had a split with Dawn treader and a few E.P.s. Everything of theirs is on soulseek. Fall On Deaf Years – Music at Last.fm ok I'll update more if I feel like it but these are the bands they've been in where I actually have all of their recordings. The other stuff on the gravesite I have not listened to. |

haha I can definitely see where you are coming from, I personally like his voice just for that reason though. Elder is probably one of my least favorite projects of theirs even though its still good. Im looking forward to two piece fest that Peter & Craig are throwing. So many awesome bands , including Best Friends!, Demeanor and two of the dudes from dawn treader that made a two piece band and I forget their name...Bezout's Identity

We played a fest with Demeanor, it was pretty rad. Best Friends moved to Philly as well, probably because they are totally in love with Peter and Craig. Its sad, because it basically means that LIB and Slam are pretty much inactive. lame.
wasn't there already a two piece fest in philly like earlier this year or late last year? and Dawn Treader is a sweet band. |

yea I think they had it last february, theyre diong it again this feb, 2/22/09 haha. Yea I saw demeanor about 2 months ago and they kicked a lot of tail. Yea i think youre spot on about best friends being in love with peter & craig haha. Letters in Binary left me a message on myspace saying they didnt break up after I said they should have a reunion show in philly haha. I dont know how theyre going to pull off keeping LIB and Slam active because they def make it seem like they want to keep making music with those bands. I know slam is talking about covering jenny piccollo and CWV. Dawn Treader is def a sweet band, sadly they are pretty much going through the same thing as LIB has. Theyre still technically a band but they're all in other bands and never play any shows. I allways see them at shows I go to. I am really looking forward to seeing them play that reunion show with D'Amore though .

That would be a killer show. And I don't understand how LIB and Slam will continue to be bands. Its obvious Greg and Scott love doing their own thing, which is awesome, yet I think its a little out of reach for them to try to keep LIB or Slam alive. LIB has played about 1 show in the past year and a half and Slam is probably on par with that. Not to mention the fact that Matthew (LIB) still lives in Detroit, and Christopher (Slam) still lives in Toledo. Complete bummer too. I saw Slam and LIB play a show a few winters back. Slam played 30 some songs. Scott kept forgetting parts, so they just played some songs 3 times over, which was awesome. I don't know why LIB stopped anyhow. I remember seeing them years ago, when they first started as a 3-piece, and the shows were super tiny. Fast forward a couple years, we saw them play at Comrade Kilkin's last show, and then play with Lords, and there were so many people there, and everyone was going nuts, especially in that massive breakdown in "Watch Rack." They would stretch that out for about 2 minutes and everyone would just go ****ing nuts. Damn, those were some of the best shows of my life. It sucks they were playing shows and more and more people showed up, and everyone was getting into it. They toured a couple of times, and then everything just stopped. When I was trying to put together shows here in Lansing, I would ask them everytime if they wanted to come out and play, since Greg was just so much fun to have around, and they would never answer. Greg and I would always talk about how lame things were around here in Michigan; how few shows there were and how few decent, friendly bands not concerned with image were here. He told me many times that they were really just stopping shows in Michigan and only playing out-of-state. Maybe they just gave up on shows in general. |

yea haha I dont understand either, I talk to Chris sometimes through The Sacrosanct Opuscle or whatever, he was saying something about taking a bus out to philly to play a show with them sometime soon. I dont know, it def is obvious theyre doing their own thing, Im pretty sure Matt is in Alaska right now from what I remember them saying. Wow dude, 30 songs, that would be crazzzzy. haha, it doesnt seem too hard to remember how to play powerviolence songs especially on drums. I dont know why LIB stopped either, I dont know how their tours went but I remember they were supposed to come through bmore and do a eest coast tour two years ago and instead rerouted their tour to the west coast. That mustve been awesome to see LIB first start out. Im really amazed though seeing metalcore scenester's profiles having Letters In Binary in their music section along with like I Killed the Prom Queen and **** though. Maybe thats why they stopped, I dont know haha. I have heard that LIB was really popular around Michigan. Yea dude, they look like they would be soo much fun to see live, damn, so much energy. They still have some of the best screams I have ever heard. Greg does seem like quite the character though haha, he has a very unique guitar style. He seems to have an awesome taste in music too from the looks of his vinyl collection. Leave it to him to have a rare out of print vinyl from -tion. I guess they did since it was really hard for them to play shows out of state. I dont know, maybe when Matt gets back from Alaska (if he is still there) he will move to Philly with them and they will be a philly band . That would be kickass, all I know is that they still seem to want to stay together.

yeah, thats because they remind everyone of DEP. so of course a lot of kids into metalcore jock them. i know they as people don't fit that mold whatsoever, not to mention the fact that they are a DIY band.
also, if you ever speak to Greg, ask him about "the troublemaker." |
