Ian Mackaye interview
I have an interview with Ian Mackaye set up for late August, I know that that is pretty far away but this is pretty much my holy grail as far as interviews go so I want it to be awesome.
So if anyone has any questions they want answered by the man behind Minor Threat, Fugazi, Embrace, straight edge, Dischord records, The Evens, The Teen Idles, DC hardcore and the producer of 7 Seconds, Nation of Ulysses, Bikini Kill, Rites of Spring, and Rollins Band, then ask away. I'll post the interview here when it's done. |
i know he's been asked this a whole lot of times, but could you possibly ask him on his thoughts regarding emo? i mean, the emo scene today. over the years, he's made it explicitly clear that Rites Of Spring and Embrace and bands within and following that vein are all punk rock to him but i never really read or heard about him giving his thoughts on bands like Pg.99 or City Of Caterpillar whose sound could be identified by most as emo/screamo and indirectly takes influence from the type of hardcore he was making way back when. that's just me talking out of my ass though.

Ask him at what age he started balding and if he could grow a beard in 3 hours. I bet he could.
No but seriously I'm curious as to who his favorite new bands are. I know that's kind of a weak question or what his favorite albums of the 00s have been. |
Forget asking any questions about straight edge and the typical ****.
Ask him if he digs any bands/genres outside of punk rock and hardcore, or the bands within the subgenres, whether screamo, grindcore, metal, shoegaze, hip-hop, blah blah blah... Ask him who he'd think would win a street fight: him VS. Henry Rollins, with one weapon of their choice. Just kidding, but seriously, good luck with the interview and hope it goes great. |
Ask him if he likes The Fall of Troy..:) Seriously.
|
Ask him if he' ever consider doing one time tour like led zeppelin did,but for minor threat ,if not, does he believe he can still sing hardcore like he did when he was younger?
|
Ask how he feels ablur modern hardcore bands and what the genre has become
|
I too would like to know his thoughts on the modern hardcore scene (Verse, Guns Up, Crime In Stereo etc) what he thinks of it, if he's into it etc.
|
I'd walk in & say 'Hey baldy , fancy a smoke?'
|
Call him a neo-nazi skinhead for me, will ya?
