Heres your problem, are you really sure of yourself that you know enough about Emo to properly judge it?...Because here is a fact you may not have known, EMO IS NOT A NEW GENRE!...Emo in its early form has existed since the early 80s, some proto emo groups even date back to the 70s (such as The Cure)... The Emo movement is devided into 3 waves, the first wave originated from the Washington DC area, and lasted from the mid 80s to the early 90s, bands from that wave included The Fire Party, Shudder to Think and Moss Icon, the second wave came when grunge was dying down and the seminal bands of that wave included Sunny Day Real Estate and Jimmy Eat World... The current movement is really the third wave of emo, which began as early as 2000, somewhat of a degression from original emo, it fused many elements of pop punk with the emo sensibility, thus its sound is barely similar to "true" emo.
I bet you didnt even know that.
