No, just because you say they're not emo doesn't mean they're not. You're basing it off your own opinion, not what the genre actually constitutes.
That's like mean saying the stones aren't rock, simply because I don't like them.

I'm not saying "I don't liek them , which means they're not emo" i'm stating a fact that they're not. There is no way you can say Et Tu Brute and Armor For Sleep remotely sound the same. I Hate Myself doesn't sound close to Junior Varsity. The bands you mentioned don't keep the original hardcore influences the 80's emo bands did, they're music was much more passionate and heartfelt. The bands mentioned put a poppy sound with "my girlfriend left me, and I feel so bad for myself" lyrics. If compare the 80's sound to what today calls emo, they hold no linkage in sound or song writing.
