i'm not here to start an argument, just to find some good new music, but i want to point out that i've never heard emo being used in the "music world" as a genre, so i'm thinking you can't really say what is emo and what's not, since it's not really a genre or hasn't been considered one by the music industry, js.

uhm, i would also like to point out that you can't say that one screamo band isn't emo and that another is, as they are both the same genre but you're classifying them as emo.. the only genre of music i've heard that's anywhere close to "emo" is emotive hardcore, but being called emo if you like emotive hardcore is considered an insult,
so i really don't understand this whole, emo genre thing.

"emo"?

Isn't that the word for "music" made by people who don't know how to play their instruments.

Hi there. You seem to have forgotten that this is under the punk section. Additionally, many emo bands have at least competent musicians.

Oh yeah.

But aren't The Clash considered punk?

And J. Mascis played guitar for GG Allin - he is MORE than "competent" as a musician...

And isn't "competent" synonymous with "run of the mill" "average" or "mediocre"?

Usually, but not always.

So it would cut itself.

1. anything from MCR
2. anything from Fall Out Boy
3. Hawthorne Heights - Ohio Is For Lovers
4. Silverstein - That one song with the screaming and the whining
5. Alexisonfire - That other song with the screaming
6. And You Will Know Us By The Trail of the Dead - That One Song With An Extremely and Pointlessly Long Song Title By a Band With An Equally Long and Annoying Band Name That Goes On and On and On Until Your Sick of Naming The Whole Song and You Just Figure **** It
