Default Help:[

Dear Netizens of MB,

Recently, my band [The Greatest Pinball On Earth!] acquired a show in downtown Orlando [where we are from]. The booker said its cool and everything, so we started promoting, because we needed to have 20+ people there.

This morning, after promoting up a storm last night, the booker emailed me and said the venue owner doesn't want us to play because we scream. Us boys in The Greatest Pinball all like that one genre of music called Post-Rock, so we always try having a certain level of Post-Rockery in our music. So the first thing I said to him was "We can play instrumental." He said yes. Does this lower our integrity if we do it? Should we even do it? It kind of sucks that we cant scream at all, but oh well:/

1, Yes.
2. No.

Since when did a venue owner decide how you play your own music?
Tell him to fuck off.

I really want to, trust me I do. We just need to start playing venues, and get out of the strictly house show mentality. But you're 100% right.

Are you the only band on that night?

So far, yes. They are still looking for bands to play. They usually have really horrible alternative rock bands there, so we'd probably get stuck playing with someone like that.

Here's what a Mancunian would do...turn up and set up your equipment like usual, wait your turn and then when you get up to play, explain to the audience that the venue owner has asked the band not to scream, but to play instrumental instead.
Then scream your bollocks off!
Even if you get kicked off, think of the bigger picture.
The amount of new people wanting to see you play again will double and it'll do your rep a world of good.
Far better than compromising your band.

Go ahead and scream if you want. They'll most likely just cut the power. Keep going if you want, and hopefully they don't have security or thugs to kick you off. If this is all worth while for you, do it.

This is the correct answer.

Yeah, that seems like something we'd do usually. I'll talk that into consideration and let you know how it goes.

Without realising it, he's given you an opportunity money can't buy.
A defining moment.
Take it.
