Have Heart
top band. i've only heard "the things we carry," but it's one of the best albums, ever, i think. consistently great tracks.
any fans? |
I never really got into them, maybe I should give them a try.
|
Love this band. Nicest guys in the world. Amazing live. People lose their minds when they paly.

I don't know if I remember right, but isn't Have Heart ones of those lame straight edge posi stereotypical hardcore bands?

It's great hardcore and I enjoy them immensely. |
I'd never figure you for a Have Heart fan, RAR.
|
I also like The Hope Conspiracy, Shipwreck, This Is Hell, and Ruiner a lot.
CRAZY! honestly, most hardcore strikes me as boring nowadays, but there's a solid 15-20 bands that I love more than the vast majority of metal. Turn It Around is in my top 5 albums ever prolly. |
and good clean fun<3
|
Yooooooouuuuuuuuuuu Gotta Stay Positive!
|
I probably never gave them much of a chance coz I already have enough posicore to create a small fortress with. Post second wave, most bands started to sound the same and it became boring.

doesn't "x-ing it up live" count as over the top? its pretty stupid. most straightedge hardcore is ridiculously lame.

not really. I'm not saying I dislike it all, just a majority of the bad hardcore bands out there are the sxe ones who focus solely on that. the fact that a lot of these bands maintain a relatively militant stance is reason enough for them to suck. making generic, boring hardcore doesnt help either.
|
well I agree with you about the militants. I am straight-edge, but one, I don't go around telling everyone, and two, I am tolerant of other people's beliefs. I have gone to a party where everyone was drinking and I still had a great time. as long as it's not a situation I'll be exposed to it -- ie. hotboxing or something -- i'm fine with it.
then again, i've always been about the posi. it sucks that it's falling out of the modern scene. pretty soon hardcore will be dominated by gangbangers and it's all downhill from there |

crews are the stupidest **** in hardcore

I thought the Courage Crew disbanded?
If they were truly brave they'd be man enough to fight one-on-one. |
hardline/crews do ruin the scene, it's what stopped me from fully embracing posi/edge due to too many arseholes. It's not something I want to be part of.
|
I hate when I hear about people who say they don't like SxE kids cause of the feww A$$holes that go around beating kids up. I'm from NYC were crews have always been huge in our scene. I guess maybe I'm just use to it. I now live outside Atlanta and the SxE scene here is very posi no fights. Most of the fights here are at shows like Poison the well and stuff like that.
And X'ing up is not heavy handed. Its no different then someone wearing a team jersey or band shirt. I would never encourage hitting someone because they drink/smoke etc... But at the same time I won't let you stand there and say SxE is stupid you should drink beer your life must be boring blah blah blah... I will more then likely punch you in your face. I know not very posi but I never was. I'm fine with you not being edge. I won't call you stupid or anything but if call my beliefs stupid we have a problem. I've been edge since like 93/94 and at first I was posi but I gave that up real quick. But to each their own. |

The term straight-edge is ****ing retarded. If you don't drink/smoke than just say it.
|
What's wrong with the term?
Anyway, if people ask me to go to a party, or try to offer me pot or ****, I generally say, "Nah, I don't drink," or "Nah, I don't smoke." If they then ask if I'm edge, I say yes. I'm not ashamed of my edge in any way, but I don't go around flaunting it. Edge doesn't make you a "better person" per se, it gives you a better chance at life and a healthier lifestyle. |

you only get one life, why not make the worst of it? i don't try to change people's beliefs, but don't go saying that i can't think something is stupid as fuck. that mentality is going to get you beat the fuck up. |
tell that to all the people who OD and spend countless nights vomiting their guts out. they can't remember their weekends or the people they've ****ed. they wake up with STDs and ulcers. I live in the heart of Boston; every night I see literal hordes of people flood the streets in drunken stupor. not to mention all my classmates I see wandering around stoned as ****. of course drugs and alcohol don't ruin everyone's life, but I can't count the people I've seen with potential and dreams forget about them once they get involved with drugs.

I'd even go so far as to say that perhaps drugs and alcohol exist almost as a form of control in humanity. A subtle means of population and gene pool pruning. Those who can handle them in a mature and wise manner prosper while enjoying the relaxing and holistic effects of the drugs and those who succumb to the base pleasure they provide. |
i'm not going to disagree with that.
|
Cool nice beaty hardcore
|
they're half-way decent.
|
One of my favorites.
Seen them a few months ago, one of the best shows I've ever been to. Have Heart, Blacklisted, Swamp Thing, No Excuses, Ceremony. |
swamp thing, hell yeah.
