Screamers
I'm kinda curious as to which band people think have the best screaming vocals.
For me, its a tough choice, between Envy, Saetia, Converge, and CTTS. |
The Fall of Troy baby. Thomas Erak.
SYL. Devin Townsend <-- i know its not emo/hardcore but sick balls screams none the less. |
I've heard about The Fall of Troy, but I haven't really listened to them much. I think I'll check them out, now.
|
I have to say Saetia. The amount of emotion and passion Billy puts into his voice tops anything any other screamo band has done.
Orchid comes close, though. |
Hassan I Sabbah
|
Yeah, that guy is ****ing good.
|
Out of the list 1905 is my favorite but overall I'd have to say Ampere brings the shit.
|
49 Morphines, Kite Flying Society, Amanda Woodward?
|
Tetsuya Fukagawa from Envy is awesome btw.
|
Some others:
Reversal of Man Jerome's Dream Usurp Synapse |
Oh, I like the Blood Brothers screams a lot, too.
|
oh god i love saetia's aHAHagAShhAAA extremely high pitched jumbl
|
pg.99 definetly followed by city of caterpillar
|
i dunno, a lot of screamo vocalists sound alike, but i still say the dude from Hassan I Sabbah had something unique going on. CTTS' vocals are sweet in their own way
|
Our options kind of suck as it just seems to be an introduction to screamo up there. Saetia and Orchid? Ew.
With the above choices, big fan of I, Robot and Pg. 99. |
Best screaming?
Ahh, so far based off of what I have heard: Bert McCracken from the first cd. I haven't heard their third cd (if it has even came out). In Maybe Memories, Bert's screaming. Maaan, I think Bert's screaming is hard to beat. |

I downloaded Wolves' "Art.Culture.Work". Sort of disappointed. |
I think that's a fun album.
|
Hey, why isn't everyone voting for The Used? They were totally on that list of cookie-cutter MTV trash bands.

Good emotion, no squawk. Normally I'd say Portrait, Pg. 99, or C.O.C., something like that. But since this is such a difficult question just because there are so many good screamers out there, I'll just list the ones I think use the most technical-precision and out-of-the-box ideas in their vocals: Crestfallen, Jerome's Dream, The Kodan Armada, Bravo Fucking Bravo, and fucking Takaru. I Would Set Myself On Fire For You do pretty average vocals for a screamo band that likes to have normally sung melodic lines, but they get props for passing the vocals around in a 3-person circle mechanism, that's pretty tight. |

Converge, because he sounds like a pterodactyl.

Lol you sound like Ethan talking about Trophy Scars. |
Obviously not everything if I made two comments about musical merit and one about character. He stole money from fans soI think that's pretty significant.
|
What'd he do?
|
All these people sent him money to make shirts and he never delivered.

its so hard to choose.. but I picked CTTS
|
I picked Converge. But the people I would say for best screamers aren't really from Hardcore and Emo bands. I think more of the people who have an original scream are in metal bands, with the exception of Converge and maybe a few others.
|
Metal screams are hella boring.

What about Tim Kinsella screaming in Make Believe (or in general)? Those are pretty badass and very honest sounding.
|
^Hellz yea. He goes crazy in some of the tapes of him with Cap'n Jazz. Tis sweet.
I think June Paik does the best job of using screams for emphasis. Not a breath wasted. |
I voted Saetia. 1905 is a close second, and they have the best clean vocals of any screamo band I have heard.
I really don't like the Fall of Troy's screams. Way too high pitched and shrill, and this is coming from someone who loves the Blood Brothers. It was funny how they psyched you out on Manipulator by putting some decent screams in the first couple tracks, but then sneaking in Thomas's annoying screams later on. They are unique, though. |
Oh shiz, The Hills Have Eyes. Thomas Erak was screaming like a madman for them.

Kaospilot's singer sounds great, and the accent adds to his character. too bad his vocals are usually lower in the mix
|
oh yeah, to add, seriously, about metal bands, they got dudes with inhuman sustain and really sick sounding screaming, but it's all too mechanical for me and doesn't even seem half as human as screamo bands could be. that's just me.
