I'm partially new

hey, I'm relatively new to the forum and I notice that there is a pretty generic community on here with people who seem to know each other, and I just want to get to know everyone on the Hardcore & Emo subforum. So far I am incredibly joyous to find a community on the web that actually knows something about the music. I found a crappy little forum before called "House of Emo" that was a total joke, in fact, they actually didn't have a music section, only a fashion section, it sickened me on the inside :( . Anyway, just want to get to know everyone, maybe get to know more about everyones musical tastes. Please don't kill me that this may or may not be in the right place on this forum, I'm trying here.

The Dave 04-30-2007 02:44 PM

What be some of your favorite bands mr. new meat?

Maximstark 04-30-2007 02:51 PM

City of Caterpillar, Pg.99, Eaves, Flashbulb Memory, Circle Takes The Square, Envy, Hot Cross, (recently) Malady, Reversal of Man, Verse en Coma, Saetia, the list goes on, I'm typical and I tend to jump around taste.

adidasss 04-30-2007 02:51 PM

I don't like it when people are exclusive..let's hope that changes eventually...welcome...;)

good point, but thanks. :D

The Dave 04-30-2007 02:54 PM

I'm sure with enough time here his tastes will broaden, mine sure as hell have.

Maximstark 04-30-2007 02:56 PM

that being said, any suggestions?

The Dave 04-30-2007 03:07 PM

As far as emo goes, not really, unless you've listened to Hobis and The Birds Are Spies They Report To The Trees, which are two of my favorites. I've been more into folk stuff lately like Okkervil River, Bishop Allen, Page France Dustin kensrue and Rocky Votolato.

Maximstark 04-30-2007 03:20 PM

well I've heard of Okkervil River, they are pretty good, but the others I will definitely look for thanks ;)

thanks for that link, Im definitely gonna be spending a day or two downing all of it, so far I like the whole community, widely accepting and generous, and Snickers seems to have either A: had a list prepared for wherever this question would be asked or B: has a lot of time and puts a lot of though into music oriented questions

You're lucky. I have a horrible internet connection, and I've been downloading off of that site for about two weeks now and only have a fraction of the music downloaded. But I guess this gives me time to absorb all of the great new music before moving on to a new album. Otherwise I would have a music overload. Actually, I'm still kinda getting it.

amplific 04-30-2007 10:10 PM

oh yah! but tonight ive been enjoying some
Frank Zappa
Bis
These Arms are Snakes

naw dude I can't find **** by them anywhere. :(

Trauma 05-02-2007 04:46 PM

Some noise is tolerable, but is definitely not the new emo.

xcult_classicx 05-02-2007 06:09 PM

to paraphrase masami akita, if noise is defined as an unpleasant sound, then the new emo is noise to me.

Trauma 05-02-2007 06:32 PM

What emo are you talking, exactly?

you know, the "emo" emo, stuff that isn't emo, but kids still force into everyone's ears. that's my idea of harsh noise. i'd take 30 minutes of Masonna opposed to 3:30 scene crap.

Trauma 05-02-2007 06:37 PM

Word, Masonna is ace.

One of my friends does some pretty good stuff, he goes by RedSK, check him out.
Another guy from England that's buddies with him is pretty sweet as well, Analog Skyscraper.

xcult_classicx 05-02-2007 06:38 PM

are they on Myspace/PV?

xcult_classicx 05-02-2007 06:41 PM

oh yeah, since we're talking about noise, here's a little something i did a while back.
