they are not emo nor screamo, and i've been a Stabbing Westward fan for the longest time. they aren't emo or screamo either.

Stabbing Westward are not really 'industrial rock,' though I do admit they're not exactly the same as The Dreaming (who I said again are SELF CONFESSED as a SCREAMO BAND)

I've been fans of them for years.
what IS your typical classification then? if they're 10000x better, then you listen to a LOT of bad bands.

1. I never said they're emo. gosh.

Secondly. Stabbing Westward and The Dreaming aren't even the best bands I've heard but they're billions of times better than emo and screamo bands which I've heard.. and most hardcore bands I've heard too..
There are alot of bands who are better than them.

My typical classification of emo/hardcore/screamo is this:
If the band says they are screamo/emo/hardcore, I'll accept their classification..

The Dreaming classified themselves as Screamo, so I'll accept that.

if Cannibal Corpse said they were emo, would they be emo? if Napalm Death said they were screamo, would they be screamo? there's a reason for all of these genres of music, they have names because they sound a certain way. Ampere's myspace says they're Punk, but they're clearly screamo. why keep saying Stabbing Westward and the Dreaming are better than hardcore and screamo bands when they aren't even in the same league? you can't compare apples and oranges, brah.

answer my question, what exactly does emo, screamo, and hardcore sound like if you know so much?

oh, screw that, let's get back on topic and talk about post-rock influenced emo/screamo. that is unless mr.three-headed-guard-dog-of-hell gives us something better to talk about.

does anybody notice the post-rock feel that flows through the new Cease Upon The Capitol release?

lol

I have no doubt in my mind that the "screamo" sound hes refering to is actually a post hardcore band.. someone along the lines of From First to Last perhaps

and... New Cease Upon The Capitol is just lovely

hm, dont think these guys have been mentioned yet...

These guys rule. I think I mentioned them earlier and even posted their EP in the other thread. Nonetheless, great band. Despite only having their two songs, I'm ordering a shirt from them today or tomorrow. I can't wait til' they have more material recorded.
