It was a term first coined by BOSS SKRAMZ himself, aka Alex Bigman I think. He was the vocalist for Seeing Means More, which put out a split with Efra, which was actually pretty good, and a 5 song LP I think, which kind of sucked. He's the vocalist for the pop-punk band Fight Fair now. And yeah, like Caveman said, its just a stupid term made up for legitimate screamo bands. Its f.ucking stupid and I hate the term. Pretty much anyone who uses it seriously probably just heard about Orchid last week. Or at least thats how I envision it.

haha yeah, im very proud to have never used this term. I find it pretty stupid to begin with. I like seeing means more, even though they didnt have many songs...but i must say they seemed like they only had a very basic grasp of stereotypical bands like orchid and indian summer.

i don't think it should matter how stupid it sounds, i mean, most genre names are ridiculous. rock. metal. country. folk. punk. emo. hardcore. screamo. pop. so on and so on. it seems like more of a convenience term to differentiate between something like the kodan armada, and bring me the horizon. though if you need to explain the difference to somebody...

Why the Post-Emo bands enjoy names like "Jets To Brazil", "Texas Is The Reason" or "American Football"?

And Jets To Brazil never came to Brazil :(

Check out Vendetta Red, particularly the "Between the Never and the Now" album. "Sisters of the Red Death" is decent, but it's not up to the standard that the first album established.
You might try Reggie and the Full Effect, too. Blindside and Billy Talent were almost of that genre, and definitely of the same time frame.

Hope that helps.

Checking this out now.

Holy fuck, I love alpinist btw. This is the shit man. Thanks for the rec!

Edit: This isn't screamo/sludge man. I don't even think it's screamo =| But thanks for the recs anyways.
