I've listened to " The First Word That Comes to Mind" so many times since they broke up, Jesus.
It's like I'm constantly comparing it to "Three".
Like:
"Three" is good; the little triplet verse section with guitar/viola at 2:20 is so catchy, the intro goes with the subject matter so much better, the "in the sand" part is a lot clearer and the guitar climax is a lot cleaner, but...
"First Word..." is just so raw!!!!!!
Beautiful!

The one thing I don't like about the re-make of "First Word..." is the saxophone in the introduction; most horrible saxophone playing I've ever heard.
I know it's supposed to sound impulsive and free but it's just bad.

Um.

Portrait - "Once An Englishman"
Ampere/Antioch Arrow - "Conspiring the Go-Go"
I Would, etc. - "Eight" and "Nine" and "Eleven" and... rest of album.

The Fall Of Troy's "A Man. A Plan. A Canal. Panama." has been playing a couple of times now. Its got some sick triplets and some of the most creative breakdowns ever. I don't even like breakdowns that much. The drumming is spot on.

Them, Roaringtwenties' "Harry Caray Frontier Guide Hawkeye" and "One Always Looks Neat In A Hat Made Of Meat" are also on my current play list. Their use of awkward and vocodered vocals really works for them, and its catchy as all hell.
uh, lets cut this short:

Mt. Eerie's Domesticated Dog
Karate's The Last War
Death Cab For Cutie's Why You'd Want To Live Here
& Kind of Like Spitting's Something In The Air.

my skram season hasn't started yet.

Examination of the... - Essays In The Moonlight; Dysmorphia
Kite Flying Society - A Twisted Path
3cm Tour - Ryoko Did Grudge

is anyone by any chance listening/listened to My Own Private Alaska? i sorta don't know if i actually like them, but what i can do say is that they are indeed different from all the modern screamo around.
