This is irrelevant when considering the best 5 emo albums.

what are the best screamo bands/albums?

someone give me their 5 essentials, I want to get more into screamo because I love emo and don't really know much about screamo. And i figure this is as good a place as any to ask.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 04-21-2007 05:08 PM

Circle Takes the Square's "As the Roots Undo" is a must, if you hadn't gathered as much already. "A Retrospective" by Saetia is another.

White Lies 04-21-2007 05:09 PM

I've heard CTTS, I love that album. I'll check out Saetia.

bloodorflies 04-21-2007 05:23 PM

you and i discography is essential.

~jonna 04-21-2007 06:14 PM

i think hot cross is better than saetia. they have the same vocalist though.

I believe people are entitled to opinions, as you are.

Unless you're joking of course, then nevermind. :)

I cried at a brokencyde show once. Powerful stuff.

Sneer 09-02-2011 06:59 AM

Thought I'd bump this, the emocore/screamo genres don't get enough props around here, which I personally think is a travesty, so I'm going to attempt to generate discussion.

What are people's favourite albums?

City of Caterpillar - S/T
Gospel - The Moon is a Dead World
Anasarca - Discography 1994 - 1997
Indian Summer - Science
Pg.99 - Document #8

These are my personal favourites, I just think they hit me harder than other albums within the movement, though bands like Heroin, Maximillian Colby, Kodan Armada, Orchid, Caestles, Ampere, Jeromes Dream, Mesa Verde, Raein, Off Minor, Suis La Lune, Saetia, Swing Kids and Et Tu Brute are the shit too. Obviously the likes of Moss Icon, Rites of Spring and Dag Nasty were hugely influential too, and their albums are well worth the listen.

This is genuinely one of my favourite genres, and I love talking about it. I know there used to be some people around like Swim, Baronodude and Anticipation who dug it too, but is there anybody now? If so, what are your favourites? Show me the love! This forum is dead.

GravitySlips 09-02-2011 04:36 PM

My 5 favourites are probably:

Native Nod
Jeromes Dream
Moss Icon
Clikatat Ikatowi
Off Minor

Jeromes Dream really do blow my mind. Those guitar riffs are ****ing insane!

I was more into this stuff a few years ago but I recently threw on Jeromes Dream and Heroin's discographies... they're both still excellent to listen to. I've never heard of Anasarca, might try and get my hands on their discog that you mentioned there Stu.

Yeah man do, I personally think it's the best emotional hardcore I've heard, so intense. I too was probably more into the whole thing a couple of years back, but whenever I put an album on it's a satisfying listen every time. I've never listened to Native Nod, will check them out.

swim 09-03-2011 12:34 PM

The new Grown Ups and Empire! Empire! eps are really good. Baton Rouge and Crash of Rhinos, two new bands, had some really solid stuff.
