In its purest form, metalcore is still more similar to Botch than it is to the KSE, AILD, BFMV type bands which take a lot of influence from melodic death metal and even power metal. I chose to use Botch as my example, because they better illustrate the blend of hardcore and metal. But yes, if we're going to be specific, they are a mathcore band... which usually is just a more progressive and technical form of metalcore.

This is hard. I'll base it on the ones I think i've enjoyed the most in the past rather than the ones I want to listen to today.

Amanda Woodward - La décadence de la décadence
Saetia - A retrospective
Envy - All the Footprints You've Ever Left and the Fear Expecting Ahead
Mihai Edrisch - Un jour sans lendemain
Daïtro - Laisser vivre les squelettes

Hello, since it seems that you guys don't mind me bumping since my
American Football thread was closed, here I am.

Hm...

Saetia- A Retrospective

You and I- Discography (a great mixture of clean and unclean vocals)

Optimus Prime- Self-Titled

Book of Dead Names- The Story Unfolds

The Spirit of Versailles- Discography

Funeral Diner- The Difference of Potential

And, 'As the Roots Undo' by Circle Takes the Square gets a mention, of course. This list isn't very likely to remain unchanged for long, ha ha.

You and I are great, they really don't get enough props as far as I'm concerned. The discography release is really good.

I like Envy and I've listened to a bit of their stuff, I just haven't been able to tell any of the songs apart, to be honest. I guess it'll just take some more listens.

Off Minor - The Heat Death of the Universe
Gospel - The Moon Is a Dead World
City of Caterpillar
Kidcrash - Jokes
Hmm... A Retrospective?

I still need to educate myself some more with the genre, I haven't really heard that many screamo albums.

And before anyone asks, yes, I've heard As The Roots Undo.

EDIT: Sh*t... I didn't notice how old this thread was :P

These are my favourites, and I do not consider influence:

Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary
The Get Up Kids - Red Letter Day & Woodson
The Promise Ring - Nothing Feels Good
I Hate Myself - 10 Songs
Jimmy Eat World - Static Prevails
