Wolverines

North Carolina music ftw. I feel kinda of bad posting this because everyone needs to go order this legit.

Wolverines / The Sibling Project split

Not my upload (it's on megaupload) so if you wan't this (sooo good), Ethan, give a shout.

When I went to for the kids fest they had the loudest set there. His mic was set way too low that he decided to not even use it but you could still hear him screaming. It was awesome.

They have a new song on their myspace that kicks major ass.

The Dave 11-02-2006 07:25 AM

Checking it out now, and it does kick lots of arse.

victorofcourse 12-15-2006 03:35 PM

hey this is victor from wolverines, and although we love the fact that kids want to share our jams with everyone, we have yet to pay ourselves back for the production of the cd. it'd be super rad if anyone who liked the cd picked one up at a show, or ordered a copy from us or the sibs. we're all broke and it took awhile to even get this thing out. so thanks again, but really, i know it's not that punk to say it, people need to get paid--**** doesn't come for free & if you really wanted to support us, the best way would be to rid us of one more cd.

word up.

also if you're in NC we're playing three/four new jams at these places:
Jan. 6th @ some house in charlotte (check the myspace for deets)
Jan.7th @ The Flat Iron, Greensboro, NC w/ shaking hands w/ danger & descolada
Jan.20th @ The Turducken House, Greenville, NC w/ the sibs, the breathing, and more.

all next to free. check out our myspace for additional information.

victorofcourse 12-15-2006 03:35 PM

also the editing on this is harsh.

sleepy jack 12-15-2006 03:37 PM

*edits out link*

I'll order it for christmass.

swim 12-15-2006 03:58 PM

Most people by sharing music try expose more people to stuff they really like and that's what I was doing. I ordered it and I don't support just downloading stuff and never ordering it and not going to shows but, honestly there's so much stuff out there that if you didn't listen to things before you buy em you'll end up with a lot of shit.

And come to east NC. The scene here is non existant. I am going to see you on 1/7 but I can only get out there because it's on a Saterday.

victorofcourse 12-15-2006 04:23 PM

as far as eastern NC is concerned, if you know of a space where there's a PA and kids who'll come out and donate, we're down to play anywhere.

see you on the 7th. that show is going to be rad.

swim 03-27-2007 06:21 PM

The new song is hawt and I can't wait for the split and full length.

chinoischaos 03-27-2007 08:30 PM

any links?

victorofcourse 03-27-2007 08:30 PM

thanks! we're super excited about the full-length. hopefully we'll have it written/recorded by mid may before a projected tour in july. we're two songs away from having this thing written.

you should come out to one of the 7" release shows i might make something special for the people who pick up the record at the show. regardless, it'll be available for ordering may 11th!

the band we're doing the split with; the breathing is really good too. scope them out if you like lofi folkish stuff. not his best stuff but a really good idea of what he does.

victorofcourse 03-27-2007 11:16 PM

you can listen to it @ myspace.com/wolverinesrock
and you can buy the 7" when it comes out.
it's three bucks, that's rather cheap.

Also July 23 Spazzatorium Galleria with kidcrash, l'antietam plus two other bands. w00t w00t.

bloodorflies 03-28-2007 06:06 AM

i dig it..

and as far as downloading...it doesn't even come close to holding the vinyl in your hand....or a cd for that matter....i think it will help you get your name out there..my old drummer tries to sell our cd on myspace...and nobody buys it...so i give it to people for free and we get good response....of course...i also put myself in debt recording stuff....So there is an argument for both sides of that coin...oh and

wolverines come to Socal.

victorofcourse 03-28-2007 08:51 PM

i'll just say it is more beneficial for a band if people pick up the release than downloading it on our level. we don't see the benefit of 'our name being out there' unless we tour the us. and we aren't doing that.
so kids pumping our jams is great, we are thankful that people like it, but unless everyone drives to nc to see us play there is no benefit. also we sell music so we can do things like tour, or get merch, etc. so it is hindering that as well. once again, a band on our level.
go download the new nas album, he's not hurtin' (and it's great).
**plus the myspace has songs that are very easy to listen to, which is why we have myspace, so that it can 'get our name out' for whoever wants to hear us.
on another note, i download plenty of things and not to make up for it, but i buy everything i can from smaller bands if they have something for sale. i know that it does make a big difference. otherwise we'll all just quit putting out cds or records and just make digital versions with albumart.jpgs attached. so everyone can have at.

Anyway we're having our 7" release show in greensboro on the 11th
and at a house in greenville on the 12th. i'm very excited.

we'll be in va and dc in june.

and touring in july. get at it.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-28-2007 09:11 PM

Holy crap, you come to Winchester, Va and I will buy your souls.

bloodorflies 03-28-2007 09:15 PM

i hear you....it's gas money....and believe me, i like you always support bands that are on an indie level like that...in the end i guess it's not fair to anyone, but the reality is, sharing isn't going to stop anytime soon..so roll with it the best you can. for instance, i didn't DL your stuff....but chances are i never even would have heard of your band if someone had not tried to share it. now i know about you so if you were in town or something, i could come out and support. hope i don't sound like a jerk, cause i do sometimes....i actually dig the band and what you guys are doing.

victorofcourse 03-28-2007 09:36 PM

we'll probably be in richmond, i don't know how far that is from you!
also thanks for the nice things said, everyone!

swim 08-09-2007 08:53 PM

I went out and I bought a record player pretty much just so I could listen to the 2nd track on the 7" [there's the 20 records just sitting on my shelf reason too but I could atleast find mp3s for them] and ironically enough when I came home from getting it I couldn't find it. The Breathing side is rather good both of those are on myspace thebreathing and their two newer ones are sweet too. You should like them Ethan. I mean I figure. Besides the fact I live in east nc I don't know why I've only seen them live twice. They're amazing. Both times I drove about 70 miles and I suggest that if that's ever an option you definitely take it. Oh and it's pretty ridiculous for a band to have a 100 press out for almost a year. All 5 songs are stellar. So buy the cd split too. It's in nice little bag things which is cool because I hate cd cases.I'm still excited for the full length. Political Playground records is the best with my last order Andrew gave me a bunch of baseball cards and buttons.

anyway pretty pictures

I almost bought that vinyl last week. Or it was some Wolverines album, either that, or something like a split w/ Sinaloa.

Sweet, sweet. I hear ya, currently I got 19 records but the needle on my turntable is broken. Sucks.

swim 08-19-2007 09:30 AM

Tonight at 8:00 on WUAG live session and interview junk. I don't get that station either but the interwebs is wonderful so WUAG 103.1 FM and just hit live stream at the top.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 08-19-2007 03:50 PM

8:00 in which timezone?

swim 08-19-2007 04:24 PM

EST

so in an hour and 35 minutes

victorofcourse 09-09-2007 09:09 PM

i drew that cover and insert! thanks for posting it!

we currently have two instrumental songs on our myspace from the live set we played on the radio! you can hear them @ myspace.com/wolverinesrock.
they normally have vocals.

we're also selling a 3 song live demo for 5 bones postage paid!

andddd we recorded scratch tracks for our full-length on friday! so except this thing to be out by december unless we decide to write more songs!

thanks internet!

swim 09-10-2007 08:08 PM

If anyone wants the first demo let me know and I'll mail you one. I know where they can be bought.

victorofcourse 09-10-2007 08:27 PM

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
i'm just kidding, but we hate that thing. it's our fault for recording it though...

sleepy jack 09-10-2007 08:44 PM

It can't be any worse then kidcrash's hawthorne heights-esque debut. Or can it? O=

victorofcourse 09-10-2007 10:25 PM

i've never heard them or that song, so i'm clueless.

but i'm not a fan of any of the songs on this release. or the production. or the left-over song from our old band... but that's me. different strokes for different folks. we honestly should have waited before putting anything out, but we were antsy about having songs for people to hear.

swim 09-11-2007 04:48 PM

There's a pretty bear on the cover. The worse thing about the Wolverines Demo is the production but I rather listen to crap production something overdone. I like seeing how bands grow. That's my attraction to it really.

All kidcrash is awesome. They were the best pop-post-hardcore band evar.

sleepy jack 09-11-2007 04:58 PM

Yeah but its still funny, I like the album. Its even funnier to talk to them about it.

^that was like the best show ever but like no one was there which was lame but I was like I don't care I love Wolverines, Hi-Rollers and The Bronzed Chorus. You can still buy their split through The Sibling Project, I think. But their side is seriously crap. It makes me wish it was released on 10" so I didn't have to hear the first 5 seconds before I can hit the stop button.

xcassiusx 12-18-2007 09:23 PM

I love The Sibling Project, especially their split with Wolverines.
Have really cared much for checking out Wolverines much. I prefer a band with a similar name (Wolves).

swim 12-19-2007 07:06 PM

I find Wolves to be pretty average stuff.

xcult_classicx 12-22-2007 10:08 AM

i srsly wish i lived all the way over in the US so i'd just buy the stuff. after seeing what victor said, i'm having second thoughts about dl-ing their stuff. oh well, guys are good anyway.

alliteration 12-22-2007 11:58 AM

I never would've gotten into this band if I never downloaded any of it. They can't be upset about people getting into their stuff, can they? Now that I dig this band (because I downloaded their stuff) I am definitely more prone to buying merch and seeing them live. You can't hate that...can you? I know my band is lame, but I give out everything...I mean we spent hours upon hours handcrafting our demos and we gave those to everyone for free. I just want people to hear our stuff, I don't want people to feel guilt about downloading it, because as long as people are listening, I have no problems. It seems there are some folks in the DIY hardcore scene who still grapple with this problem, and I can't imagine why.

swim 12-22-2007 12:57 PM

Who's your band?
