The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower

they've split :(

its a shame as i really really like them! Love in the Fascist Brothel is an awesome album... Some Girls arent anywhere near as good.

anyone a fan... or can anyone recommend similar bands?

sleepy jack 09-29-2006 03:58 PM

I've stilled never heard a song by them >.>

Sound Devastation 09-29-2006 04:08 PM

i cant upload anything at the mo.... but you should definately try to check them out. theyre kind of like a more jazzy Blood Brothers.. they're quite similar to Aotea actually and The murder of rosa luxemburg. both british bands... im just interested to know a few more from the US scene.

Ultra Dolphins, they're just kind of good. I prefer others.

http://www.myspace.com/thiscitydynamite
Australian, but they have memers from love like...electrocution. =D

http://myspace.com/neonblondebats
http://myspace.com/soileddoves
Blood Brothers side projects.

Thats all I can think of. =/

swim 09-29-2006 05:13 PM

I'd never heard of them before but they are really good.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-29-2006 05:32 PM

I like them.
They remind me a little bit of Jonathan Fire Eater but without a vocalist who wants to be Mick Jagger.

White Lies 09-30-2006 06:34 AM

I love this band so much, and yeah much better than Some Girls. I imagine their shows would've been ****ing intense.

thanks for reminding me :( I love this band.

bardonodude 02-24-2007 09:41 AM

dissertations honey is so kickass, a lot different than their most recent album

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 03:25 PM

It's too bad these talented musicians hav resorted to such sensationalism.

swim 02-24-2007 03:27 PM

WHat?

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 03:34 PM

The band actually sounds decent, but the lead singer is one of the worst I've ever heard

The vocals are fine but how have they resorted to "sensationalism"?

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 04:02 PM

the first thing I heard was some lady doing poetry over some smoky jazz in the background-sounded really good. Then they come out there and do all this screaming crap, which can be good sometimes, but they don't do anything to separate themselves from the heard. Band would b better if it was just instrumentals

A_Perfect_Sonnet 02-24-2007 04:06 PM

It would be better if you knew that the fact they do jazz breaks in the middle of their songs seperates them from "the herd".

Jazz infused screamo = A+
TheUsedToolguy's opinions = D-

swim 02-24-2007 04:09 PM

They're hardly a run of the mill emo band. I mean Urban likes them that means they have to be special. And not because Urban doesn't listen to much things in this forum. Because he's so picky that I don't understand his tastes.

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 04:15 PM

they would be better suited to devote themselves entirely to the jazz, but that probably wouldn't sell as well, i.e. sensationalism, who can honestly tell me their songs are better than their jazz stuff?

sleepy jack 02-24-2007 04:17 PM

Stop using big words if you don't understand what they mean. Sensationalism has nothing to do with how well something sells.

swim 02-24-2007 04:19 PM

Combining two genre's is not sensationalistic. Jazz and screamo aren't really that popular of genres. If they wanted to make money they'd right simple shit 4/4 rock.

I know exactly what it means, when Hollywood puts explosions in movies that's sensationalism; it's resorting to causing sensation to get a reaction, and this band needs their screamo persona to get attention. If they only did jazz, I probably never would hav heard of them, but that doesn't mean bands should compromise their artistic integrity just to get their name out there.

swim 02-24-2007 04:29 PM

What have they comprimised? They aren't that popular. Maybe they like playing what they. This band is very original.

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-24-2007 04:33 PM

And why should one band stick to one genre?

If you are a fan of hardcore and jazz why not start a band using influences from both?
I don`t see you calling Captain Beefheart sensationalist for mixing blues & jazz influences.

I don`t see hundreds of bands clogging up the charts full of this stuff so how is it being sensationalist?

Plus you seem to have overlooked the fact that they split up so I don`t see them shifting millions of albums to a mainstream audience in a hurry.

TheUsedToolguy 02-24-2007 04:38 PM

yes, but back to my original point, there jazz stuff is way way better than their screamo stuff, and while the jazz has a nice easy flow to it, the screamo sounds really forced and unnatural. IMO

LOLOLOL what in gods name are you talking about. The band played venues about the size of someones room and it didn't sell out. They're not popular and never were. They dug real screamo and jazz and they played both. Are you trying to imply a band who plays 2 unpopular sounds is selling out? Innnteressttinnggg

bardonodude 02-15-2009 07:03 PM

so I just found these dudes split with necktie party on my computer, and I think I just unintentionally found their best material mixed with another awesome band, Necktie Party, time for a search binge.

xcult_classicx 02-16-2009 05:55 PM
