City of Caterpillar

Self-Titled is great and their live stuff kicks ass too. I shouldn't need to give a link so if you haven't heard search myspace or download something out of the "Oh Snap!" thread.

The Dave 08-22-2006 08:35 AM

I listened to them about a week or so ago, Crowquill sent me a link, and I must say that they are a great band. I can't remember which song I liked the most, I just heard the ones on their myspace but it is great stuff.

beat yr own KID 08-22-2006 11:09 AM

Lol daughters are the sexiest band ever. Get it right. You will understand what I'm talking about on friday my man.

Raine 09-02-2006 04:38 PM

I was just listening to When was the Last time we painted Blood Over the Walls.
It's one of my favorite songs by them. . . . .

I like this band a lot. . . .

hiu 09-02-2006 05:02 PM

Sucks.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 07-04-2007 01:36 PM

Does anyone elses songs from the S/T skip regularly? Because mine do, and I'd love to listen to them more but its so irritating that it just ruins the songs.

The Dave 07-04-2007 03:35 PM

I only have a digital file of it, so no.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 07-04-2007 03:39 PM

Digital file? Not sure what you mean. If you mean mp3s/m4a/whatevers, thats what I have too, but they skip.

The Dave 07-04-2007 03:42 PM

^yeah, that, but it doesn't skip for me.

Alexander the Grape 07-04-2007 09:22 PM

On my ipod the songs from the S/T play for about 30 seconds and then skip to the next song. Its really annoying. I even deleted the songs and retransfered them, but still no luck. I'm pretty sure the files on my computer work fine, though. I'll have to try completely redownloading the zip, because these guys are so amazing.

Trauma 07-10-2007 02:40 AM

Mine (used) to do that (hopefully used to), but I deleted them and redownloaded clean files?

No problems since then.

To add to this thread;
YouTube - City of Caterpillar @ AllBooks

Great performance and pretty decent recording.
Even though most have probably seen that video already, watch it again.

All of the songs on their s/t are my favourite, though I have to admit; "Minute-Hour-Day-Week-Month-Year-(The Faiths In My Chest)" gives me chills nearly every time I listen to it. That line "My faith's in my chest, it keeps this intact" is just amazing.
"A Little Change Could Go A Long Ways" is also amazing, not only the brutal build-up, with the breaking bottles used to keep time, but at the end when he's screaming "It will do". Simply beautiful.
"Inhale, exhale" in "Maybe They'll Knaw Right Through" is also a good part, though the lyrics to that song aren't as good as the others in my opinion.
Seriously though, everything they did is pretty much genious.
I can't find/don't have "Driving Spain Up A Wall", but there's a video of it on youtube, it sounds pretty cool.
Some say they recorded it, some say they didn't.

knivesoutbaby 07-10-2007 05:01 AM

wtf, mine skips too but only in itunes. when i use other players the tracks jump a bit while the song plays. does anyone have a link for the cleaner ones?

xcult_classicx 07-10-2007 06:23 AM

mine never skips

There is an official live recording of this song on level plane's compilation "80 records and we're not broke (yet)"

Chaos Is Me 07-17-2007 07:47 AM

Mine is fine, its recorded pretty low though

CaptainSuck 07-17-2007 08:55 PM

I'm amazed how little ego is in City Of Caterpillar's delivery... hard to believe a band as pretentious as CTTS takes so much influence from their dynamics, but comes across so much differently.

lol how are ctts pretentious? They are probably the most friendly band I've ever met. They play what they like. Don't see much pretentious about that.

Maybe the word I was looking for was ostentatious. I like CTTS, just sayin', their full length can come of as silly on occasion.

City Of Caterpillar

Well aside from clearly being the best screamo band ever (which isn't saying much when you ****ing look what the scene ****ing came to) it also has the best-fitting name for a band ever. I'm curious about the name. Does anyone know if it was actually related to anything or referencing something or just a flight of fancy?

bardonodude 04-04-2009 12:32 AM

i remember when I was first getting into screamo and I saw this bands name, I thought it was the most awesome name ever and I thought it would be something akin to the locust because of the insect methodology. They're really good but Im not really feeling the post rock elements of their music that much anymore, if they were just a straightforward noise/loud band, I would love them to pieces. I find myself fastforwarding through all of the repetitive long and drawn out parts to the passionate screams and awesome riffs that make this band memorable.

Bane of your existence 04-04-2009 12:49 AM

I always ranked them third behind CTTS and whoever my flavor of the week was.

welterweight 04-04-2009 12:51 AM

they were streets ahead of CTTS.

bardonodude 04-04-2009 10:03 AM

they definitely were

GravitySlips 04-04-2009 11:44 AM

I love this band, although I do love CTTS as well. This band more, however.

One of the songs on their album is just unbelievable, one of the best i've heard. Can't remember the name though, it's been so long. Need to give this band a listen again, soonish.

coryallen2 04-04-2009 11:57 AM

this band is pretty good they are local check them out(local for me)

ianwilliams 04-04-2009 06:05 PM

City of Caterpie is immensely better than Circle Takes the Square.

Driving Spain Up A Wall = favorite song

sugarandspite 04-04-2009 08:26 PM

City of Caterpillar and Page 99 are really the be all end all of screamo for me. there ARE other bands I enjoy, but I can NEVER get bored of these two bands!

ianwilliams 04-04-2009 09:02 PM

I never really got into pg99 as much as i think i should have.....if that makes sense

sugarandspite 04-05-2009 12:17 AM

Yeah, I know what you mean, I feel that away about a lot of screamo bands.

They're both just really unique bands.

i think they only really had 1 decent record.

bardonodude 04-05-2009 02:45 PM

pg. 99 are ok, i used to think they were one of the most underground and awesome badns in the world because I could never find anything about them. Then when I listened to them I was just like, meh. But, document 5 is really good.

ianwilliams 04-05-2009 07:24 PM

They have a few really really great songs spread over various releases, no one release was all that solid, in my opinion.

But everything City of Caterpie has done is gold

Personally I always thought document 5, and document 8 were really solid albums. I can listen to them both straight through without boredom which isn't very common for me.

sidewinder 04-14-2009 07:44 PM

Nice to see City of Caterpillar appreciation...love their self-titled.

As for pg. 99...I agree with some of the recent comments. They never did much for me, but I've only heard Document #5.

Sneer 04-23-2009 07:33 AM

The s/t is probably my favourite screamo album.

Rubber 08-03-2009 02:59 AM

is there a studio version of this song?

nope and it really sucks because thats probably my favorite song from them. i have that live+demo recording cd and they have a live track on there. but there are better live videos that have better quality. City of Caterpillar has an unreleased song that they are releasing along with pg. 99 on a split for anyone that didnt know but sadly it isnt this song :(.
