Botch

Surprised there isn't a thead on here anyway. But...here it is. RIP 2002 though...but they split and joined into some different bands such as These arms are snakes and minus the bear.

botch are amazing... as are These Arms Are Snakes and Minus The Bear!

favourite Botch album? mines An Anthology Of Dead Ends, though We Are The Romans is an obvious top choice too.

Botch was amazing, so are These Arms Are Snakes and Minus The Bear. We Are Romans is my favorite album.

Botch is awesome. We are Romans is my favorite album. Their cover of Rock Lobster is damn awesome. It makes me smile.

Over 3 years and nothing? Where am I?
Anyway - I've been feeling a lot of vintage Hydra Head love lately and Botch is up at the top.

It's a classic - but I've always been partial to American Nervoso. I'll never forget when one of my old music geek friends called the guitarist "revolutionary" because of how he played on this album. Turns out he was right.

Yea I've listened to their album a few times - it's pretty good. If I can get myself to not think of it as a Botch album it's even better. Definitely happy to hear that voice again and I'm glad he didn't go the route of some of the other Botch members - I'm not a big fan of These Arms Are Snakes and Minus the Bear is also minus the excitement.

I'm going to have to gather a few of their albums

edit: What would be a good album to start off on?

bardonodude 12-25-2009 05:11 AM

i always liked an anthology of dead ends.

drakey 01-05-2010 10:18 AM

Start with An anthology of dead ends.

It's the shortest and the easiest to get into.

Every song on it is just awsome just like in We are the romans. But I consider the Romans is quite more hard to understand.

Enjoy!

No love for American Nervoso? It's, like, what started it all..to me it was their prime (no offense to their later albums - I think they're all in the range of good to excellent)

drakey 01-06-2010 08:32 PM

Don't get me wrong, I love American Nervoso...but the Anthology and the Romans have an evolved treatment of that new genre to come. And the tunes itself sounds better to my BRAIN; I started to get A's at Maths since I listen to Botch, haha!

But anyway, I think American Nervoso didn't really started it, they have a couple splits recorded before that. Being one the Botch & nineironspitfire split CD (1997). But I think there were another one. Any clue?

Goofle 12-26-2012 04:49 PM

Loving We are the Romans right now. Gotta get into this band.

Only heard of them because they had Minus the Bear members in it. Pretty good for what it was, but didn't get me into the genre.

Engine 12-27-2012 03:27 AM

Yay Botch. I was gonna say something but then I looked back a page and realized I already said everything I wanted to say three years ago.

We Are The Romans is a really good album but it's not my favorite of theirs. American Nervoso is my favorite (as stated) and after that I default to An Anthology of Dead Ends because, even if it's not their best work, it sounds pleasant and comforting to me. Narrows is good but nothing else that these musicians did later appeals to me much. Viva Botch.
