I Like Emo Music

Emo/screamo is a great genre. Here's a list of most of the emo bands I listen to:

Circle Takes the Square
Trophy Scars
She Died Real Pretty
Dear Diary, I Seem to Be Dead
Amanda Woodward
Ampere
La Quiete
Funeral Diner
Neil Perry
Welcome the Plague Year
Joshua Fit For Battle
Koaspilot
pageninetynine
City of Caterpillar
Stop It!!
Saetia
Hot Cross
Orchid
Indian Summer

Anyone else like emo/screamo?

claudioismybitch 03-22-2006 07:02 PM

it's ma favorite besides the metal. it makes you want to move, and i don't know. it's the only thing that's really affected me since like ol timers i.e neil diamond lol yeah i said it, billy joel, kansas, boston. so don't be ashamed, i'll laugh if you are emo tho.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-22-2006 07:15 PM

I'm totally an emo, I love my girl pants. What are some of your favorite bands?

bungalow 03-22-2006 07:26 PM

I bet that you're not as emo as I am!!!!

Every single article of clothing I own was purchased at Hot Topic, and all of it is stained with blood from where I slit my wrists every night. Beat that you poseur!

bungalow 03-22-2006 07:32 PM

By the way.
Does anyone have any Indian Summer they can send me? I heard that their discography was put onto CD not too long ago, does anyone have it?

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-22-2006 07:35 PM

bungalow 03-22-2006 07:45 PM

Well, I dont want to buy it.

claudioismybitch 03-22-2006 07:46 PM

oh and ok don't laugh, i have a huge difference in music taste. i've even been known to put that rap on and sometimes country, i like music for what it is, poetry and sounds. but anyway, right now i be listening to chiodos, which i used to know way back in the day when they were still chiodo's bro.s they all lived near me.
but i love,

copeland
underoath
from first to last
saves the day
say anything
indian summer
showbread
bear vs shark
3rd grade science project

ya know the standards, lol.
and i playfully laugh at your girly pants, tho some of my best friends wear them too. and only like most of them are girls! lol

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-22-2006 07:46 PM

I'm going to. When I get the moneeeeeyyyyyyy.

Muzak 03-22-2006 07:50 PM

Is there no Emo/Hardcore forum anymore?

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-22-2006 07:52 PM

It doesn't get proper attention. I'm bringing it here to help the uneducated, except I'm nothing like Don.

metallica3491 03-22-2006 10:07 PM

Probably because most people are smart enough to not like emo music. Most people dont dwell over unimportant things makeing their life out to be worse than everyone elses. News flash emo boys...LIFE SUCKS!
Get over it. Wearing tight close, makeup, black nailpolish, and cutting arent ways of expressing yourself. Sorry if im leading this thread more towars my own personal beliefs on emoness so let me bash the music now. Emo music is a sad exscuse for people with no talent to strike it big. It is the easy way out for most bands. In emo/screamo you dont have to have talent to make it big, just depressed followers that flunked outa school and pretend like they can relate to the music just because there girlfriend dumped you or your parents wont let you smoke pot. Anyway, emo bands like to pretend that there life is more depressing than anyone elses. If you want depressing go to Africa or parts of the middle east where AK-47s are being put into kids hands and sent to battle. Now if that is your life than you have all rights to say your life sucks.

Indian Summer is a good emo.

So you missed out on my sarcasm about the girls pants, and even though you've never read ANY of those bands on my list's lyrics (let alone listen to them) you still put in your uneducated misguided opinions. Kudos to you.

metallica3491 03-22-2006 10:31 PM

Sorry if i broke the sarcastic mood but i had to voice my opinion.

Give these bands a listen, and tell me if they fit your idea of what "emo" music is.

metallica3491 03-22-2006 10:50 PM

Talent=8
***ness=10

Ill admit they have some talent but they are more punk then emo. Nice try for standing up for emo but thats not emo.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-22-2006 10:55 PM

It is though... historically accurate. Not "mall emo" which is really like indie emo (ex. Sunny Day Real Estate, Capn Jazz) that slowly fell away from any attachment with its roots. The media likes to latch onto the term though and label anything with a whiny singer and annoyingly untalented guitars as emo.

Wow 2 right! Well done my pet. Now it's fixed.

You know what would be a great idea?...Emo grass, no need for lawn mowers anymore, because it cuts itself. =D

That was lame, i appologise.

um, you can't make up your own style. Alternative pop/rock, punk metal, emo, post-hardcore

--It was better than calling them fashionxcore. They don't even play any of their metal songs anymore, just those annoying mall emo songs.

no, post-hardcore

--FFTL? possibly, but they really kill me with that image. Hence the pop punk labeling.

as well as alternative pop/rock and indie rock

--Saves the Day isn't on an indie label, and pop punk fits them pretty well, considering their roots are in hardcore punk.

stop making up styles. Emo, punk revival, punk-pop

--Say Anything is nowhere near emo. And powerpop is a genre.

post-hardcore and like Christian rock

--Haven't really heard much of them, but I figured they fit into the mislabeled pop punk/pop rock catagory.

and indie rock

--Bear vs Shark is on Equal Vision, not really much of an indie label.

Wow 2 right! Well done my pet. Now it's fixed.

K.

Fenixpunk 03-23-2006 12:41 PM

well basically its the idea of combining apple tree DNA with marijuana DNA to form a tree that produces apples with THC in them...doubt its been done but its been a dream of mine ever since i saw a seedless watermelon.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-23-2006 12:50 PM

Dude, it could be an apple tree with marijuana leaves. Sweet.

It is if you listen to actual bands in the genre and not poorly labeled ones.

Stone Magnet 03-23-2006 01:25 PM

If it's any type of punk, then it probably sucks.

The Jellyfish Incident 03-23-2006 01:29 PM

emo music generally annoys me, but its ok, they will go home and cry to their mum.

sleepy jack 03-23-2006 03:31 PM

I'd like to state this thread was a genius idea for edumacational purposes.

What have you listened to?

bungalow 03-23-2006 03:38 PM

What emo bands did you here that annoyed you.
I will admit that I do not like a lot of screamo. Only the ones where you can really tell that the screamer is yelling at the top of his lungs, and has put a lot of passion into the screaming. This is why I want to hear Indian Summer, I heard that the singer's lyrics sometimes got so personal, that he would actually break down and cry in the middle of a song.

Sounds great

The Jellyfish Incident 03-23-2006 03:45 PM

my chemical romance,
bullet for my valentine
mendeed (though could be considered metal)
Fuzagi
Inme

a few others that escape my mind now...

bungalow 03-23-2006 03:47 PM

Eh, I have a feeling most people will disagree with those bands being emo, save a few.
