K, I am way bored so I read stuff on TBS/Brand new and kind of looked into other things lyrically and it interested me greatly *bored*. So I am going to type it up and yeah it was interesting. So like Lacey played bass for TBS for awhile he left them and formed the rookie lot with the rest of brand new and on TBS’s self titled it wasn’t Adam singing but this dude named Antonio Adam took over because Antonio blew and that’s what Timber wolves At New Jersey is about “Fragment ideas and too many pronouns” “Those words at best were worse then teenage poetry” making fun of his lyrics. “I got the mic and you got the most pit” is a reference to how Adam is now the singer. THERES MORE =O Adam was dating Jesse’s sister and cheated on her. Adam said they’d broken up before he hooked up with the other girl but Jesse basically told him he never wanted to talk to him again so next time Adam called Jesse and he didn’t answer so Adam left a voice message containing the infamous bridge “is that what you call tact etc..” on Jesse’s voice mail and then it became part of both their songs which are written directly at each other. (going on this part) Jesse wrote seventy times seven saying he wishes adam would die, and the used the voice mail as basis for the lyrics in it. Then theres no I in team was wrote and it says "best friends means I pulled the trigger best friends mean you get what you deserve" and thats basically saying if adam died, then he would of deserved it for what he did. Then Adam Lazzara (TBS singer) was going out with John’s sister Michelle and he cheated on her. John was mad and left taking back Sunday. Jesse sided with John. Ohhh and on Where You Want To Be, Slowdance has a similar chord progression as Soco Amaretto Lime and they both begin with “passed out…” and the line in slowdance “and boring like his songs” is a stab at Jesse’s songwriting. Slowdance was the name of a song TBS performed on tour when John was still in the band and I’m guessing they did this to make John pay attention cause he talks about “taking her for granted” which is talking about Michelle. Also there’s a brand new shirt that says “because mics are for swinging not for singing” which is a stab at Adam’s performance. Jesse wrote in the shower scene “It's funny how your worst enemies always seem to turn out to be all of your best friend's best friends” and since John was Jesse’s best friend and Adam would have been john’s other best friend that makes it clear Adam who messed with him because of what he says. Jesse wrote seven times seven, “I remember I kept thinking that I know you never would, and now I know I want to kill you like only a best friend could” meaning he didn’t think Adam would do this and he did and now he’s mad at Adam. Then Adam wrote There’s No I in Team “Well I can’t regret, can’t you just forget it? I start something I couldn’t finish and if we go down we go down together best friends means, well best friends mean” He’s either being sarcastic with the “Well I can’t regret” or he means hes glad he did it. But basically he messed up and he thinks Jesse needs to get over it. Then in Mix Tape jese wrote “I got a twenty dollar bill that says no one’s ever seen you without makeup you’re always made up and I’m sick of your tattoos, and the way you don’t appreciate brand new or me and I know you’re a sucker for anything acoustic But when I say keep in touch, I hope you know I mean I wish you’d grow up. This is the first song for your mix tape, it’s short just like your temper but somewhat golden like afternoons we used to spend together before you got cool” Which is basically saying Adam changed to impress people to which Adam replied in No I In Team “and I’ve got a twenty-dollar bill that says you’re up late night starting fist fights versus fences in your backyard wearing your black eye like a badge of honor soaking in sympathy from friends who never loved you nearly half as much as me” saying that he was always there for him and no one is a friend like him even though he screwed up. Also I think Adam wrote 'the union' to John about the michelle situation. I think “ghost man on third” may have some reference to Jesse because John, Jesse and Adam were 3 good friends until the whole thing went down, and probably did stuff like that together. There’s tons of a other references you can find in the lyrics. I rule...

its a really sad situation with the guys and all.. but i'm gald it all happened.. because look how inspired these guys got from all of this.. half of those songs on 'Tell all your friends' and 'Deja Entendu'... those are both really good albums when it comes to bitch fight lyrics.. they are so understanding and i;m sure so many guys out there can really get how those guys are feeling...its just really good that these two albums are out there... that are so well relatable because there so just from the heart of true everyday type bullshit

But really, after that many songs about it, Im surprised they still had that passion in them. Its like outplaying a situation instead of a song. After a while it just doesnt flare up anymore.

& Ethan [crowquill] how long did that take you to type out?! It was quite interesting to read. I knew that they fell out and whatever and that some of the lyrics were just aimed at eachother and things, but not in that much detail. My friend said she saw a video of a show they did when they were friends or something? like waaay before anyone liked either of them & Jesse lacey was all like 'thankyou sooo much for sticking around for us' cos they were a support band or something? I dunno, doesn't make much sense cos support bands play before...maybe i got it wrong, but it was something implying they weren't very big.
I love Brand New. So, yeah they win. I had the chance to go and see TBS but i was ill and only got asked the night before & it was a school night rarrr...etc. butbut, i really want BN to tour :]
