I really dont know, I just know a lot of popular bands that are characterized under a certain genre are thought to be the core sound of that genre because most people dont know about the music that is on this forum haha. For example, like how everyone now thinks that Hawthorne Heights is as close to Emo as its going to get, not even the music but the lyrics.

IMO, i could say they are an emo influenced post-hardcore band. eventually, thursday got big, and some of bands with similar audio traits were lumped in with them. the fact that Taking Back Sunday ended up on victory didn't help either. someone probably used emo to describe thrusday, and some magazine or internet writer got a hold of the word and exploited it to death because it's catchy. is that right? i dunno, just testing out if it really works. |
