Just a little early, but give me your top 3 cd's of the year. Doesn't have to be just these 3 genres, meaning it basically does but it can be genre leinant and not have the genre nazi's all over you for picking your top 3. So get at it.

Kinda in order.

1. Between the Buried and Me- Alaska
2. Minus the Bear- Menos el Oso
Tie for Third
3 (1/2). The Sounds of Animals Fighting- The Tiger and the Duke
3 (2/2). The Fall of Troy- Doppelganger

This was more difficult when I tried to do it. I should have made it 5 or so.

Decemberists - Picaresque
Meshuggah - Catch Thirty-Three
Dream Theater - Octavarium

.. I don't listen to much music from this decade.

Why not?

1. Propaghandi - Potemkin City Limits (although was not good as today's empires)

2. Protest the Hero - Kezia

3. System of A Down - Mezmerize orrr Hypnotize, their both damn good.

i would have more informed choices, but i've so goddamn poor this year i can't afford too many cds

On the whole I'd say music from past decades has been more original and inspired, nowadays everything sounds too similar.

I'd agree that older music is better, but I wouldn't say that music today isn't original or inspired.
