They are indeed hard to classify because their sound changed over the course of their career. The last two are not emo at all, IMO, which is why I said what I said. Defining emo band for the second wave of emo, basically. The softer kind. The first wave was a lot more hardcore (Rites of Spring, Embrace, etc).

None of this really matters though...just buy tickets for the show!

Just got Diary, and I was really impressed with it. The only other 'emo' band I've liked that shares that same indie sound as them is Cap N Jazz. But anyway are there other albums worth checking out? And has anyone here see them live? They're coming to Houston soon and I thought it might be cool to check them out if they out on a good show.

I really like LP2 (the pink one) as much as Diary, though some people don't agree. The next two albums were pretty different, and even different from each other. Definitely go chronologically and get LP2 next.

I have tickets to see the reunion here, looking forward to it as I never got to see them live back in the day.

I've seen them 3 times and they have always been excellent. They always sound great - like you know they've practiced a lot - and they're very into the music. I have never seen the original band (seeing them in Austin Oct. 7) so I'm excited.

Next Friday for me! I'm still regretting the seats I got though. Reserved balcony seating. I've never been to this venue and from what I read the lower floor had seats too, but was general seating. But it's possible that the seats do get removed for some shows, in which case I would have preferred being down there in the general standing space. Especially since I bought 2 tickets and don't have anyone to go with yet! Oh well.

Well if nothing else I'm sure the Seattle show will be sold out so you can probably sell it. Seats? Sounds fancy. Here they played at a usual small-medium converted warehouse venue. I made sure to get as front and center as I could - but it'll be awesome no matter where you are. Lemme know what you think.

Yeah I'm sure it'll be awesome. I bought the tickets because I assumed it would sell out, but I'm thinking it won't. Especially because Grizzly Bear is playing the same night so I'm guessing that show is taking a good chunk of would-be SDRE attendees.
