so lemme get this straight. If a band has any sort of emotional lyrics but somehow makes it somewhere and doesn't change their music style then they are mtv sellout emo? Since when is the only music underground sh*t? You guys are so damn hypocrtitical. And Silverstien rules and will probably never ever have MTV playtime.

Calm down

Its my opinion that yes they are MTV emo. This doesn't mean that I feel every band on MTV sucks. I like the Promise Ring, Sparta, and the Mars volta which have all been on MTV. I'm sorry if I offended you by posting an opinion, but this doesn't mean you can generalize.

I'm of the opinion that there is no such thing as the genre "emo". Once upon a time, there was. Now the closest thing you can have would be Saves the Day. Emo, is... a state of mind? I'm trying not to delve too deeply into hyperbole. Many many bands have emo songs, put off an emo vibe. Even some nu-metal like chevelle, or some hardcore, like Tear Us Apart. I would say both of the bands you asked about indeed do have emo songs, and that emo vibe. That's just my two cents.
