I have never really been a fan of hardcore until I started listening to from autumn to ashes and those guys are awesome Perris voice is so tight and they are also such a versitle band also Francis Mark is a great drummer especially on double base But I was just wondering who everybody likes when it comes to hardcore and why

through being cool 05-23-2004 01:22 PM

From Autumn to Ashes is great.

They're all I can think of right now...

Thrice 05-23-2004 06:23 PM

Fa2a Is Awesome...

But Avenged Sevenfold Is Much Better...they Have Awesome Riffs And Great Lyrics.

Beor Uaine 05-23-2004 06:43 PM

Agnostic Front
Slapshot
Evergreen Terrace
Sick Of It All
Martyr AD
All Out War
18 Visions
Piecemeal
Hope Conspiracy
Reach The Sky
Bones Brigade
From Autum To Ashes
Older Hatebreed
I also like some Mad Ball

Just head a song by Avenged Sevenfold and I was impressed. The singer has a great voice. I saw their video on the Headbangers Ball last night. They were on the Ball a few weeks ago, but I missed it.

ally 05-23-2004 09:36 PM

hopesfall and from autum to ashes are the only 2 i really enjoy. i should probably start listening to more stuff similar to them thou...

Thrice 05-24-2004 06:40 PM

Avenged Sevenfold remind me of a "hardcoreer" Thrice...similar riffs and melody.

brokenheartsandfallenhero 05-24-2004 08:35 PM

lol...ahh another great word from the thrice dictionary, please define a Hardcoreer

Thrice 05-24-2004 08:59 PM

...It is an adjective... it is similar to "more hardcore", but it is a little more extreme than that...

brokenheartsandfallenhero 05-24-2004 09:02 PM

hardcoreerest

Thrice 05-24-2004 09:05 PM

well now that is a noun...thus refering to the most harcore, but is more extreme than "most hardcore"

brokenheartsandfallenhero 05-24-2004 09:10 PM

lol... somewhere shakespeare is turning in his grave

Thrice 05-24-2004 09:10 PM

brokenheartsandfallenhero 05-24-2004 09:14 PM

Who_Cares 05-25-2004 12:50 PM

Are DeadPoetic and/or Silverstien considered hardcore ?

StaticChaos 05-25-2004 01:36 PM

I dont listen to much hardcore, but from what i do its... Every Time I Die, hopesfall, underoath and atreyu from time ot time.

P.S. Silverstein is Screamo i guess..

deadbolt 05-31-2004 06:02 AM

why is this in the emo section

brokenheartsandfallenhero 05-31-2004 01:47 PM

because hardcore is derived from emo just read the lyrics

David Frost 06-04-2004 09:33 PM

From Autumn To Ashes is NOT hardcore.

Botch is hardcore, and some of the best

brokenheartsandfallenhero 06-05-2004 08:50 PM

Pal Fata is hardcore, you just listen to Eulogy For an Angel and then tell me they aren't hardcore they are most definetly hardcore they are not metalcore but they are hardcore

David Frost 06-06-2004 08:09 AM

see. this is where i disagree with you. From Autumn To Ashes, at any point in their musical experience as a band have never been hardcore. They used the hardcore scene as a stepping stone to further their "careers" and their rockstardome like many other bands before and after. They are a band with an identity crisis. They dont know what they want to be, and because of this their music suffers. From Autumn To Ashes in every aspect is not hardcore. They are ****ty pompous dudes playing ****ty music to a group of 13 year old girls who just got back from buying their pre-packaged lifestyles at the closest Hot Topic. That kind of music i have no respect for.

In close, go listen to Combat Wounded Veteran. Thats hardcore.

Thrice 06-06-2004 03:37 PM

I have no respect for people that think they have all the answers to everyones musical opinions. It is all based on opinions. Who are you to classify each band correctly...

I THINK GOOD CHARLOTTE IS HARDCORE

I THINK GLASSJAW IS COUNTRY

I THINK RITES OF SPRING IS ELECTRONICA.

i totally agree. its like, some guy goes to me the other day, just before the slipknot album was released in the uk, "how can u like thrice yet be highly anticipating the new slipknot album, it renders everything you ever said about music senseless." like you cant like two different genres. music is opinion. i can say slipknot are emo, because they have some emotional lyrics about girls. i can say linkin park (however i dislike them) are techno because they have some synthesizers and **** like that, or they are a hip hop band, and that could be my opinion.

that is one thing that really bugs me. people saying a band is **** when they have clearly listened to one or two songs. you find me a crowd 13year olds that have heard of from autum to ashes. they are very talented, not my favorite, but by no means sh!t. you cannot say a band is sh!t without any backup.

brokenheartsandfallenhero 06-06-2004 05:24 PM

I dont have nearly as much of a problem with people putting music into genres as much as I do when this frost guy comes in here and starts telling people that there music sucks, you just don't do that everyone has their own opinion ok there buddy!! Oh yeah and Fata is a great band with loads of talent you can argue that they suck when your band has achieved their state of well deserved recognition

brokenheartsandfallenhero 06-06-2004 05:27 PM

and more power to thrice because I think that Jay-z is some damn good bluegrass!!! Oh yea one more thing frost Fata is a branch off of emo music, its not popular goth/prep goth stuff so people wouldnt go to hot topic, because it has nothing to do with them so until next time....DONT TRASH FATA

David Frost 06-06-2004 06:53 PM

wow, well i didnt think this would cause such an uproar and get everyones panties in a twist. and for the record i have tried to endure from autumn to ashes for about 3 or 4 years. Their first demo cd i actually enjoyed. then the next stuff they released was eh.. and not as good as they could be. then the first full length cd came out, the stuff that most of you probably first from them. take her to the music store i believe it is called. i actually bought it, it was sub par with predictable time changes and break downs. the music sounded like it could have been written in a day. tremelo picking-->breakdown-->strumming-->another chuggy breakdown--> a rockstar singing part---> then a breakdown. and after that i still didnt say anything about them. that was untill hellfest when they played to a bunch of little girls and acted like they were the hottest **** in the world. That was when they started getting to me, then they released that joke of a cd and started with these music videos and ****. that cd and the songs on it are probably the worst thing i have ever heard. the saddest thing about a band is when you know they have talent, but they dont use it.
and as far as classifying music, and trashing it, i am only stating my opinion. when i hear people say i like emo music, in almost every case, they never ever have heard of most of the bands that made emo what it is. most people dont know emo was in fact around in the 80's and that upsets me. when people say they like emo, this means they like thrice and taking back sunday and thursday.. ect. i will never say that those bands are bad, however i do not enjoy them. all i am trying to get out is that people should try listening to some other (real) forms of emo.

end rant.

brokenheartsandfallenhero 06-07-2004 12:08 AM

well well well first off get your facts straight the album with the SONG take her to the music store was Too Bad You're Beautiful which was great! Then they came out with The Fiction We Live which is just as good. And wow so at one point they were playing to some teenage girls, so that must be all they play for huh? Next you might want to look at what forum you're on THE EMO FORUM, of course we know emo started in the 80's with Rites of Spring and Fugazi and that the bands you listed aren't true emo, thats no huge discovery sherlock! We live in a post-emo state but most people just refer to it as emo and we could bitch and moan about it for days but that doesn't sound too fun

Thrice 06-07-2004 05:49 PM

...i have alot to say, but not the time...

but anyway, daivd if you have not learned yet, you have to backup your opinions before you get bitched at.. ha ha
we have too many kids that come in and say emo is *** you all should kill yourself, and we are used to verbally abusing these ignorant children. when you come in and make fun of well liked bands without any backup, you apppear to be one of those, so we tend to practice our verbally abusing attitudes... sorry

i love to debate, but you guys are getting a little bit into it, calm it down a bit. its about the music we like and dont like...not about the people who say stuff about the music we like and dont like...so just state your opinions with backup and say them kindly and we wont have any problems...

brokenheartsandfallenhero 06-07-2004 06:14 PM

I dont know thrice when it comes to frost... this forum just aint big enough for the both of us Jk Jk

Thrice 06-07-2004 06:46 PM

well battle it out later...but for now...lets talk bout harcore bands.

i like killswitch engage too.

David Frost 06-07-2004 08:25 PM

Killswitch is a very good metal band.

One of the best metal bands that alot should check out is The Black Dahlia Murder. And Pig Destroyer.

as for hardcore, its all about Some Girls. This band is nuts.

(as far as all the other comments and side chatter, i did not come here to start drama as some may seem. i simply came to spread some music and perhaps learn of some new bands and talk about music with other people who are passionate about it, so i will let the drama end here. if anyone else cares to keep a reasonable debate going, i will be more than obliged as long as there is no mudslinging)

Iheartmintaeros 06-10-2004 02:00 PM

Silverstein
Story of the Year
Funeral for a Friend
From Autumn to Ashes

Thrice 06-10-2004 05:48 PM

... i think the title said hardcore...

i consider FA2A hard, but the rest arent really.

brokenheartsandfallenhero 06-12-2004 06:10 AM

Yea the other three are really post-hard or screamo

emokid90 12-16-2004 10:37 AM

Jonah 12-16-2004 12:29 PM
