I'm happy to patrol the Rock and Metal subforum, where many of the spelling errors will no doubt occur. Who's going to do the Lounge, I wonder? ;)

Seriously, though, since anyone can participate, you don't have to limit yourself to one particular subforum unless you wish to. But it might be a good strategy. 2 hours 19 minutes left....

Just some observations, considering the backlash this provoked: I must admit, when you suggested this I had a much more clandestine approach in mind. Lurking in the shadows, dark greatcoats, taking notes by fading streetlights, questioning under much brighter lights while we remained in shadow, and so on.

When people started openly talking about it in not one, but several threads, I foresaw disaster. We may like to use proper spelling and grammar, and wish everyone would, but not everyone does and those who don't often have little or no time for those who would seek to correct them. So in a face-off of those proportions, the odds are always going to be heavier on the side of the "victims", with even those who have good grammar but frown on we Nazis getting in on the act and speaking against us.

If we want a glorious Grammarreich to rise, I think it behooves us to fade back into the shadows, work behind the scenes, compile our lists and then, when the moment is right, let the tanks roll and the Stukas commence their attack!

Until then, I would say either a) kill this for now or b) continue, but keep it strictly within the confines of the group, with perhaps one thread (allowed by mods beforehand) in the Lounge in which to discuss any relevant issues.

For now, I'm taking off my brownshirt and putting back on a t-shirt, as I have Metal Month II due at the end of this month, and there is always work to do.

Well spoken. If any of us want to do this again (I know I won't for at least a year), we'll do it for a day, unnanounced, and only report errors in this group thread.

I hereby promise to dilligently seek out and highlight the mis-use of spelling, punctuation, grammar and syntax. Serious matters, such as incorrectly placed possessive apostrophes, upper/lower cases to denote common/proper nouns and prepositions will be addressed!

Cultural or status issues must not be seen as obstacles, nor should the use of Microsoft Office spelling and grammar correction software be deemed an appropriate excuse.

In return, I trust that MB members will be accomodating and understand that all of my mistakes are, of course, typing errors (or I am too busy to spend time on minor infringements).

I am pleased to see that this thread recognises the importance and responsiblity of grammar Nazis, by not requiring them to put the reasons for editing posts. Is there any possibility of this being extended to all grammar Nazi posts?
