Famous acts you thought were going to be one hit wonders?
An Amazon Review for Madonna's Immaculate Collection said something like,"When Madonna hit the music scene in 1982, I thought,"This Madonna chick isn't going to go anywhere. She's going to be a one hit wonder." How incredibly wrong I was, she became a huge mega successful superstar and to this day is STILL a huge, mega successful, superstar."
I(Karice) heard Poker Face from Lady Gaga and thought,"This Woman's cold, robotic voice sounds cool, but she's going to become a one hit wonder." How incredibly wrong I was. Lady Gaga is a huge, mega successful, superstar to this day. I mentioned on another Website thinking Lady Gaga would be a one hit wonder with Poker Face and a Poster replied,"I don't know why you thought she was going to be a one hit wonder with Poker Face when she'd already had Just Dance as her first hit. It would have made sense if you thought she was going to be a one hit wonder when Just Dance was first released, but not Poker Face(I , Karice, personally heard Poker Face before Just Dance) Last edited by Karice; 02-25-2023 at 11:03 AM. |

I thought Eminem would disappear as quickly as Vanilla Ice.

Eminem is an anomaly. Generally White Rappers have one or two hits and then fade into obscurity. Vanilla Ice's two hits were actually a sample and a cover. It helped Eminem that his songs are for the most part original songs and he associated himself with well established and world renowned and famous rappers like Dr. Dre.

Drake. One of those artists where it sometimes feels like his fans are living on another planet where his music is amazing. That he still keeps getting hits and acclaim and hype is one of the most baffling things to me.

Now the latter one is a bit weaker - but I like that he tried something different. As one would expect, when actual house artists got their hands on it, they remixed it to make it sound more unique and enjoyable than the K-Mart house that Drake put on offer. The ingredients are all there for a great song, the producer just couldn't pull it out. |

I remember a Drake Critic saying something like,"Drake is so damn repetitive. He just raps the same thing over and over like he's in an insane asylum!" LMAO! I liked that post so much I made it my signature, and the original Poster was gone for MONTHS before I even saw the post. And was gone for MONTHS after. I made it my signature. The OP came back and was like,"Karice's signature looks oddly familiar, like something I would write. I looked up a post I made MONTHS ago and I realized that Karice made my quote her signature, and I'm not even mad. Her signature helps spread the word of how repetitive Drake is! |
