Formerly Known As.....

The Warlocks thread gave me this idea......

What are some bands that use to operate under a different name.
The Grateful Dead were once The Warlocks. Van Halen used to be Mammoth, and Jefferson Airplane became Jefferson Starship who became Starship and still are to my knowledge. What others can you think of?

AC/DC started out as the Velvet Underground but then changed when they heard about the NY Vu.

The Who started as the Detours, then The Who, then the High Numbers and then changed back to Who

I know this isnt the idea of the thread, but Jonathan Davis was in a band called Sex Art before Korn.

hmh...i guess i misread something then...i just went to a site that has origins of bands names. some of them show names that the band went by previously. i guess the author of that wasnt too well informed

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-07-2005 01:59 PM

Led Zeppelin started off as the New Yardbirds

Keith Moon suggested they become Led Zeppelin because he said they`d go down like one.
