Music for falling asleep to
Hey gang.
Me and my daughter have a playlist that we sometimes like to listen to when it's time for her to sleep. They're songs that we find comforting and perhaps even a little sleep inducing. You probably get the jist of it, but here are some examples of songs from our playlist: And many more, of course. We got some Kate Bush, C418, Nico, Dirk Campbell, Robert Wyatt, Mark Knopfler, etc. Do you use music for this and do you have some tips for us? |
The first group that comes to mind for sleepy music would be Beach House. I saw them dubbed dream pop at one point.
I'm such a light sleeper that putting on music would keep me up for the night. |
My go-to

I used to put on some Enya for my daughter. That combined with some Geiss visualizations on my PC screen and she was out like a light.

I can fall asleep to just about anything to be honest. Music in general can be soothing to me.

Max Richter's Sleep and Robert Rich's Somnium immediately came to mind. Both are 7-8 hour albums made specifically for sleeping to.
I personally am way too sensitive to sound to really sleep to even the calmest ambient but I like do doze a bit or just let the mind float to music like that. |
Tangerine Dream is a pretty solid choice.

Back in 2020 I contributed to the Ambient thread naming several quality sleep music collections.
The larger collections of the genre I’ve compiled so far include:
Particularly noteworthy longform sleep works include Max Richter's 8-hour Sleep, Robert Rich's Somnium and Perpetual: A Somnium Continuum, the Liquid Mind drone discography, and the unofficial Klaus Wiese Klangschalen Sounds Vol. 01-12. I sleep to most of these every night. |
