Music (reviews, news) website recommendations
Ok so I figure a part of my recent slump in excitement about new music has to do with the fact that I'm too reliant on Pitchfork for my reviews (and they are really struggling to find good music lately). Is there anything else out there, with respectable and eloquent journalists who can write well etc. but not lame like Rolling stone, NME etc...

Can't believe I'm saying this but... Norg's idea is a decent one. Not the taking pictures of the pages of the magazines he wants rather than buy them, but in general, music mags can be a good source of information on new music. If you're into metal, I guess Kerrang! is still the go-to, or maybe Metal Hammer, whereas for Prog it's, well, Prog Magazine (formerly Classic Rock Presents Prog) and then there's Classic Rock itself, and its various spinoffs (AOR, Pop etc) and no doubt plenty of other mags on other genres.
If you don't want to buy all those mags, a subscription to Readly is a possibly cheaper alternative, which will allow you to read all the mags they have in their catalogue, including most, if not all, of the above for about 9.99 a month. Given that most mags cost more than that for a single issue these days, not a bad deal. You can also at the moment get two months free - which I'm availing of right now - and then cancel if you wish.
